I don't know about the ECS kit but there are two in the trunk. One is a festoon bulb under the parcel shelf. The other is a wedge bulb.

It's a very easy activity... the instructions on the website are spot-on, except for the rear dome/ceiling lights. The set on the ECS Tuning website is for the F10 5-series, which has 3 rear dome/ceiling lights, whereas the F10 M5 only has 2. So you will have one extra LED bulb leftover. But nonetheless, the kit is really good because it has the right type of bulb for all the interior and trunk bulbs. There were 18 total bulbs that were replaced... the kit came with 19.

Thanks avi8tir for the recommendation.
Are those LEDs pure white ? Or they are kind of bluish ?

Correct... two in the trunk, one on trunk lid (wedge) and one on the underside of the deck (festoon). The ECS kit has both.

I would say they are more on the white-ish side. They look more white in the daytime, and a bit more leaning towards blue during evening / night time. If you see the lights in the door handle, the ECS kit is probably along those lines. I'm pretty happy with the color.

Here you go:

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F10-M5-...ing/ES2576040/

I suggest getting the trim pry kit if you don't have one... it'll make it a lot easier to remove the different trim pieces.

Either of these will work:

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F10-M5-...Trim/ES517779/
or
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F10-M5-...rim/ES2500877/

Also have some type of clean cloth or dry wipe with you. I used the one that came with sunglasses to clean the lenses. It'll make it easy to handle the LED bulbs, and will keep you from burning your hands when you take out the bulbs that are on (e.g., when the door is open).

Phenomenal price for the kit. 19 bulbs and it still costs less than BMW's 10 LED set.

Please post pictures once installed. Curious to see the color difference if any from BMW's kit.

The door handle LED lamps are exactly the same color as the interior LED bulbs - something I wanted.

Here are some pics... sorry for the bad quality. I took them on my Blackberry phone camera. Not sure if you can tell but the light quality of the LED is pretty good... for me, it seems pretty close to the door handle lights. In the portrait scale pic of the car seat, you can also see the door puddle light on the bottom.

Thanks... it's quite spacious in the back, even with the car seat. My daughter loves it when I redline the car in 1st and 2nd gear... unfortunately I can't do much more than that on the roads where I live.

Interesting... I counted / used 18. In the rear overhead, I have two wedge bulbs only. Looks like the non-US version (?) of the M5 must have 3 (2 reading, 1 overhead).

I just did this install (of the set of 10). Took me 30 mins all up, including the two overhead consoles. What a difference this makes.

All I need to do now is order another set of 10 to fully LED her and I will be done. I don't think I am going to be able to put up with the non-LEDs much longer ....

You can order the missing bulbs from superbrightleds.com.. it'll cost you much less then ordering another kit. Their 6000k bulbs are a perfect match.

Their 74-xHP3 builbs are a perfect match for the Vanity/Mirror lights.

Purchased from ecs. Good find! Looks like the best price so far. Not willing to risk Ebay quality, had plenty of bad experience. Will report when they get here, hopefully soon!

Ordered a set from ECS as well. Thanks for the guidance Poleposition and others.

Hoping they aren't a huge increase in brightness though.

I used a small notch-tip screwdriver on my Leatherman tool to slide the tip where the bulb base is, and then flick the base lightly to push it out of the base. The fittings around the bulb are fairly snug, but looks like they can take some abuse. Try this way... it was easy for me.

I just switched out my lights today. They look 100x better. They're definitely not a huge increase in brightness. They match the lighting on the door handles perfectly. I ended up with one extra led (ecs tuning) so my final count was 18.
