So I replaced the rear PS2 with PSS.
My traction problems are now gone, car is like awd, pulls strong in 1st and 2nd gear. So happy now

I am running on factory equipped PSS and when it's cold and rainy, I am almost scared to drive even a bit faster. Pretty every light stop, I have to make sure I go real gentle with the throttle. When it's dry and warm, that's a different story.

Hi
I had an M3 for 2 years loved every minute of it, the m5 is quite different, not as nippy but man it has some power, very much the angry older brother, bit fatter but punches a lot harder! Re traction about the same as the m3, you do have to tip toe a bit now and then, and I came from a full manual so the DTC is still taking time, but I am getting much happier with it... Cheers stu

Not entirely I would say. Where I am, it's pretty warm all year round. Even with PSS, the last 2000 rpm in 1st gear could still light up the DSC in the straights at WOT. With steering input, it gets worse. This car really needs more traction in my opinion.

Any others feel this way? I would assume with full DSC that any slip due to wet roads would be corrected with the engine cutting out to eliminate wheel spin, or am I wrong? |

When i had my M3 with the supercharger the pss gripped better than any other tire on the market. I always felt comfortable pushing the car in the dry and wet weather. i don't have enough miles on my m5 yet and haven't pushed the car because i am still under 1200 miles. I hope the PSS tires will be good but with the all the tq we have i am sure we will spin a little.

There is never enough traction Seriously though the PSS tires are much better than the PS2s that were on my E60 M5.
In my experience the car will have wheel spin through 2nd in MDM with WOT. As said before throttle modulation is key. If you have steering input in, and are aggressive with the throttle in 1st or 2nd, better be ready for oversteer! Interested to see if there is more hook up with 315s on straight takeoff or once rolling.

My brother has an x5m and every time we race, off the line I stand no chance. He pulls on me extremely hard, does make me wish the M5 came with 4 wheel drive. My dsc lights up like a Christmas tree every time I give it the beans so no not entirely happy with the traction

I havent really nailed my car yet, as im only on 500 miles, but i have seen the traction control light flickering a couple of times, through 2nd and 3rd gears, using, around half throttle, with DSC on. I wonder just how sensitive the system is ?, because i feel that the wheels were not spinning when the light was flickering. Does the light start flickering, when it senses that the tyres are about to lose grip, or only flicker, when a definite slip is detected ?. I think with DSC off, or MDM mode, the light is going to be on quite a bit, with the monster torque. Our temps are only around 5* here at the moment, so certainly not ultimate grip weather anyway. I quite like the idea of a fiery beast under my right foot, with the ability to spit you off the road if you are too aggressive, it keeps you on your toes, and makes your inputs more thought about. Saying that, 4wd would make you possibly faster off the line, and in some other conditions, so im in both camps, but im certainly happy, with what i have now, regards, SIMON.
