305 vs 325?

I am looking for new rear tires (3??/25/21)

From my searching, everyone seems to be in agreement that that Michelin Pilot Super Sport are much better tires than the Pirelli P-Zero tires.

However, Pirelli makes a 325, where Michelin for the 21" wheel only goes to 305. I have the Michelin now with the 305/25/21, but when it comes time to replace, does anyone have experience which setup was the better one to go with?

Thanks.

Unless you go with wider fronts, I'd stick with 305. 275F/305R are a good balance, or 285F/305R would be even better. Wider rears and not fronts will just create understeer.

You'll need at least a 11.5 to go 325/25/21. Just a head's up.

Good points.

Also, the standard rear wheel size is 27.13" (19" 345M, 295/35/19). The alternative wheel size is 26.99" (20" 343M , 295/30/20). For 21" rims, the rear wheel size is 27" (305/25/21) and 27.4" (325/25/21).

Yeah, I replied to that. I would not recommend a 325 on a 10.5 inch wheel. 305 max according to tire manufacturers.

I'm working with 11". What's the adverse effects of 325 on 11"?

I take it the standars are:
305 on 10.5 (Available by Michelin)
315 on 11 (Available by Pirelli)
325 on 11.5 (Available by Pirelli)

M6-Coupe gave a good answer on the second part, but I'm not sure about the adverse effects.

Maybe the tires won't bead properly on the rim? Not sure, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially on a 550-hp car.

I just got an email from tirerack, 305mm is the max they are confident with on a 20x10 rear M5 rim. For more grip on the street and track they recommend the Michelin sport cup 2. Hope this helps....
