Damn, that means the ONLY option I'd want from the Executive Package that I couldn't get separately is ventilated seats -- and some of those other options I'd prefer not to have, like soft close doors which are apparently obscenely expensive to replace if something goes wrong. But ventilated seats would be so awesome....

And what is variable light decoding? I can't find any information on it. The closest I've found is "variable light distribution", which seems to be another name for active headlights that swivel when you turn the wheel.

I wish I was one of you guys!

I really want the M5 and want to put an order through...right now it's an F30 but maybe in 5 years...

The problem is the beast starts at $101,000 which is a little too far from me...

Oh well, I guess I'll wait...

Did you dealer tell you it woudl hold up the delivery or are you assuming, because it is individual?

Compare Piano Black:

with the Aluminum trace trim:

I could still be convinced though and since my order is still, so far as I know, waiting on the next allocation, I could make the change easily.

I will be going Sakhir with Aluminum Trace, only difference being I'm getting extended leather only so my glovebox will be in black better complementing the aluminum I think, as JPHughan pointed out. I currently have a dark black trim in my C63, and like you, I just don't think it suits the sportiness of an M5 - especially a white one with "red" interior. Either way I don't think you can go wrong.

I'd think on it. Looking at the pics you posted I'm thinking even more that Piano Black would be a way to re-emphasize the classy side of the M5. That Full Sakhir is doing plenty to highlight the sporty character, so the Piano Black gives it balance IMHO. Both Sakhir and aluminum separately emphasize sportiness, but I don't think they combine well together, at least not when right next to each other as they are in Full Merino spec. But then I'm biased, because I didn't like Fox Red Extended + aluminum trim on M3s either. But obviously do what you'll enjoy most!

The aggravation with Extended is that you miss out on a much more luxurious interior, mostly the dashboard and rear of the front seats being full leather. That's a tough tradeoff to make just for aesthetics, and like I said above, I think black trim can be ok on a sporty car as long as you've got something else representing the sporty side, which Sakhir definitely does.

So are there only 4 orders in so far (TylerStarBmw, SleepTight, efm9821, and me-lawpurv99)? Anyone know if this is an allocation limitation, lack of demand, people not posting orders, or something else?

I just got an email from the dealer I had placed my 2nd deposit with and that dealer said: "BMW hasn’t allocated any slots to anyone in our district or region (southeast) that I can see nor have they for anyone (in the country)...." I'm wondering how that is since I "placed" my "order" with my dealer.

I am trying to figure out if he is just not a priority dealer for BMW or if other dealers just don't have slots or something else....this is very confusing and conflicting! Anyone know how this is going down?

My dealer told me that ordering individual options (i.e., black piano trim) would not delay the order any more than usual because the first round of U.S. production slots are all essentially custom even if you are choosing standard options.

I am hearing similar information from my dealer (to your second deposit location). Nothing is allocated except for 1 single car that is going to Honolulu. Maybe you were able to place the order in anticipation of the allocation?

It would be helpful if one of the dealer representatives would jump in and update everybody with a technical explanation of the order process and what we can expect.

Maybe they dont know either?

Build 1 for sure IMHO. A white interior would look amazing, but I've heard that BMW's white interiors get stained obscenely quickly if you wear jeans, and even if you don't then they're impossible to keep pure white, and once they're not they start to look dingy fast. Stained/dirty/dulled white

Out of curiosity, why the ceramic brakes?

Yeah, that would be nice. My dealer (the one with my order) emailed me a PDF out of some BMW system though?!?! Looks like it is an order with BMW (not the dealer's system since there is information about the dealership as well). The dealer that sent me the note saying there is no allocations did tell me about the Honolulu one but he said even that order did not have a vehicle allocated or assigned to it yet.

Dealers/Jason/someone smarter or more in the know than us - any input?

UPDATE: Dealer called and said the 047's are configs placed into the ordering system in priority order. As a dealer gets an allocation, the 047 changes to the next stage and the order automatically coverts in the order the configs are placed at that dealer. Apparently they can put in an unlimited number of 047's (configs) at each dealer for the people willing to buy one and then they just convert as allocations free up. Bummer...guess the best you can ask for now is being your dealer's top config in priority and then hope they get an allocation immediately when they are allocated from BMW.

I just got off the phone with my dealer and I know for a fact that the info they gave me is fact. They're my larget client and we support their entire technology environemnt. So... there has been one allocation so far and it was to a dealer in Hawaii. You can not enter an order in their system until they get their allocations, period! They are being told by the regional manager that allocations will be delivered any day now. That's it for now!

I like your Build 3. Seems like no one in the US wants to go with MCB? I noticed a lot of SG and Black...I wanted Imperial Blue Metallic from the go because it looks dark blue in full sun and black at night.

Ceramic brakes? any particular reasons?

I can confirm (via BMW NA) that the rear sunshades (power rear and manual sides) are only available in the ZEC (Executive) Package.

Hello All! Unless Ryan's dealership is realllly special, winning top M awards etc

We are accepting orders however, the allocations have yet to be given. I believe it will be determined by dealer and region. California will most likley get more than others the first run. Other regions will be determined by dealer output and past orders.

You must understand that this is not a limited run. BMW will produce alot of these howeever the first several runs will be limited since other countries have already had orders placed.
