Test drive today. Fantastic!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Test drove the M5 today for 160km. Totally amazing!
It´s like a fusion of my 2 cars. M3 + 550i = M5.
It has both the caracters that I like from my present cars.
Agile as the M3 ( almost ), comfortable as the 550. Even better quality inside than the 550. The M-DCT is even better than in the M3. In comfort mode you don´t feel the shifts. Even better than the 8-speed auto in the 550.
And then when shifting under acceleration - feels like the M3.
The total feeling of the chassis is much more tight than the 550, but in the same time sporty comfortable. Excellent seats ( M multifunction seats in this demo ).

At 20km highway driving at legal speeds 110 km/h the consumption came down to 9L/100km. For the rest of the drive I averaged 14.0L/100km.

So now my 2 cars will go and the new M5 will take their place.
Silverstone/black leather/ 19" + most of the options will be my choice.

19" better looking IMO. Better comfort with higher sidewalls and better handling than the 20".

That might be why I was slightly disappointed with the M5 (with 20" wheels) when I drove it last week. Without a doubt, truly awesome performance, but, even with the suspension in comfort mode, IMO a bit too harsh for everyday use and long drives.
A great car, but for me, not as enjoyable all round as my 535d.

Cidair I love your car and motorcycle collection! Will be sad to see the m3 and f10 go but it sounds like you'll be perfectly happy combining the two into the new m5

When will your car arrive? And please share pics and your reaction I love silverstone <3

The M5 will arrive early April - hopefully?

Leaving the M3 will be very hard. It´s fantastic.

Second test drive today - with my wife as passenger.
Drove the car with gearbox in D-mode and suspension in Comfort.
She liked the M5 even better than the 550i!

She didn´t like the 20" wheels and thought the blue brake calipers looked ugly............. women

So it´s gonna be the 19" for me. She´s the boss

No, not with my wife onboard. Couldn´t take the risk of her saying - the 550 is more comfortable, I think we should keep it......

That's playing your cards right

Will you have a chance to go solo and get into a broken-in car to really performance drive it before your car gets in?

Signed the deal today. Production expected second week in March.
I´m hoping to pick it up at BMW Welt first week of April.
