Anyone tried using snow chains on the m5. Don't plan on intentionally going out in heavy snow but just in case a freak storm came thorough. I thought about putting a set of snow chains in the car as backup. I'm thinking of the Thule k series summit k44. Looks like they will fit on 20 inch rims?

Just picked up oz cortinas from tire rack in black.

Seen a marked drop of in traction with the summers below 60 degrees f. Or 18 degrees Celsius.

My opinion would be if you need chains you shouldn't be driving it. Chains on an M5?? Just doesn't seem right. How about a second car like a jeep or something to get you through the winter months? That's what I do. Good luck either way.

Unless you are up in Sussex Co, I can't see the benefit to chains over winter tires/rims. Risk of rim/hub damage if you don't maintain proper speed... gives me the heebies just thinking about it.

Plus you'll help eliminate some of your traction issues in the colder months because your tread blocks won't turn to stone.
