2013 M5 Purchase First Impressions
To start off the purchase was a 2013 M5 with 4k miles. Black Sapphire, Full black leather, Executive, Driver Assist, B&O, 20's. It had the iND cosmetic package already and black door handle replacements. The 343M were also powdercoated in Gloss Black and I love them.
First impressions was WOW! This motor is a beast. I loved my E60 M5 but this thing is another level. From a dig the E60 was a bit of a slug but not this thing. Freaking car scared me a few times when I accelerated from toll booths. Pros: 1) Motor - The power especially the torque is addicting. I know it isn't popular with some but I love this twin turbo engine. 2) Range - I'm not one to complain about gas mileage but the range on the E60 was horrible. I couldn't believe how long the tank lasted me with the F10. 3) Trim - One thing that stood out to me is how much nicer the aluminium trim is vs the E60. I'm not a fan of wood so I had alum on both my M5's and F10 is WAY nicer. 4) B&O - Not something I would have optioned new but it is amazing. Will definitely require that when I upgrade to a 2015 with comp package. 5) DCT - So fast and smooth. Nothing like the jerky SMG. Might be most amazing part of this car (besides engine). 6) Looks - I know this is subjective but I feel it looks better than the E60 and other current competitors. I considered the E63 AMG for the tuning capabilities but I just didn't like the look. I guess I have loved the look of M5's since the E39 days and that won't change. Cons: 1) Size - I actually like the size over the E60. I would classify myself as a "tweener" between the 5 and 7 series so this car is perfect for me. I understand how many feel it is too big but it fits my needs well. To put it in perspective before my E60 M5 I had a Lexus LS 430 and LS 460. 2) Exhaust - This is my only issue with the car. The motor makes great sounds but the exhaust is weak. Quick fix though as I already placed my order with iND for Eisenmann Race. Disappointing thought that stock isn't at least somewhat adequate especially since the E63 and RS7 have strong stock exhausts. Overall I just love this car and can't wait to drive it again today. Mid 50's here this week so we are having a semi heat wave. Mods (just ordered): Eisenmann Race 4x102 KW HAS kit LCI front grill Pedal Haus pedal set ECS interior lights Next round: HRE wheels (20x10 front, 20x11 rear) AMS tune Will post pictures after round 1 of mods are complete Last edited by apsuard; 03-10-2015 at 08:34 AM.. |

Spot on regarding the exhaust. I went MPE and that is how the car should come from the factory.

Congrats! It will be plenty loud with the E-Race, IMO!

Great thoughts on the M5 too. I actually split 50/50 between the looks of the F10 and E60. I think the E60 is more aggressive with its styling with things like design of the side view mirrors where as the F10 has a more powerful design statement with things like huge size of the front intakes. I still miss the E60, or rather it's V10 engine. The F10 is just such a huge step up in quality from the E60 though.
