As for other options, Porsche is a great alternative if you don't need a spacious cabin any more, but I'd argue that a Competition Package M6 Coupe handles damn well too. Think of the E63 as a worse handling M5 but with AWD that tries to compensate for its worse handling characteristics. The same for the Audi RS7 but seems like they are trying too hard and the Quattro works overtime to make the car handle well. And if you don't care about luxury so much or exhaust note, then I'd highly consider an F80 M3 or F82 M4 instead. I'd maybe wait to at least test drive the new M3 and M4 before you pull the trigger on any new car. As many have said before, you seriously can't go wrong with a 911 C2S. If you can afford it and can wait just a little longer, I'd go 991 GT3. No back seats in the GT3 really, but to me it's a bargain supercar, although I'm guessing a stock F10 M5 will still be able to beat it in a rolling race.

All my opinion of course.
Thanks Dave, always great insight. The only thing that I need that the Porsche can't offer is a trunk that I can fit my golf clubs in.

BMW Encinitas moved to $2K off on the 15'. Said they'd do $12K off on a 14'!

I know dealers offer the same residual on 2014 models. Just ask them for more discount! I know they can go up to 20k off!

You think they can do $10K+ off on a 2015 or you talking about a 2014?

I'm talking about 2014! the reason I'm saying 20k because I was in Crevier the other day with a friend of mine, we saw the 2014 Convertible with 20k MSRP. %53 residual for 12k and 0.00130 MF

Marko I went this route as well (kept my M5 for a few months after I got the M6) and I enjoyed the M6 more no doubt. It was the better driver in the straights and turns and your deal is good but the M6 like the M5 is highly discounted and you will be stuck with it if you lease or pay to get out of the car when you want to trade.

I fear that you might fall into the ADD curse I have with cars and the M6 while different than the M5; is not different enough (for me).

I was at my friends dealer yesterday and he took in a 118k plus M5 sticker (2014) and he stole it with 700 miles for 87k LOL as the owner didn't want it. But then he advertised the crap out of it and the best bite was only 90k after 3 weeks. Be prepared to either lease it to term as the M6 is just as soft it not softer than the M5.

This among other things is a great reason to switch to tennis. Other reasons are
  • Tennis is better exercise
  • Tennis takes less time
  • Tennis is actually cheaper

According to my daughter who has a friend that is the general manager of the Jag dealership in Plano, June is the worst month for car dealerships and the first week of each month is also the worst week of the month. I bet with all the 2014 inventory on the lots and the 2012 turbo's coming off lease, the Porsche guys are willing to deal on the sitting inventory.

I've been trying to get out of my 2013 M5, but depreciation is making it hard to make the trade. I've been offered 66,000 on trade for my loaded 2013 (minus CC brakes and drivers assistance package). OUCH!!!!

I was trying to get into the new Jaguar F-type R coupe.

Exactly the reason why I decided to keep my 2013 for a while. Depreciation is so bad on the 13's so that's why I decided to just do an overhaul on the car to have myself fall in love with it again and it worked for me.

Also the thing for me is that if I'm going to drop my M5 it's going to be for a different car and not another M5, which creates too many car choices for me to consider right now. Also my M5 is still under warranty for a good while and there's nothing wrong with it. Why get rid of a perfectly good car just to lose money on it? Plus the only three thing I really want on my M5 are Carbon Ceramic Brakes, LED Headlights, and adjustable side bolsters. 2 out of those 3 I can easily upgrade on my 2013. I have no desire for the Comp Pack being retrofitted to my 2013 either. I would love to own a Comp Pack M6 with CCB's and all the options, but getting rid of my M5 for one now makes no sense for me. Maybe one day.

Hard to get good deals on '15 Ms right now. Was going to do an ED M5 in October but was able to get great deal on a '14 in the showroom, which was almost exactly what I was going to order. So I get the car, 4.5 mo earlier at lower cost than ED with the '15

Picking up on Tuesday.
