I think I would be nervous about turning my new BMW over to a 3rd party to "over-write" BMW's software. Seems like there are always trade-offs. Like when you change the exhaust for the promise of a HP boost, it almost always comes at the "top end" but at the expense of torque at the "low end". I experienced this with an Eisenmann/M3. Sure, HP might have been boosted on the top end, but when in real life am I going balls out on the top end? But the sacrifice was torque on the low end, which I found more important in daily stoplight to stoplight driving.
