Window Tinting

I see a lot of variety in the numerous photos with regard to the amount of transparency / opacity on the various windows. Does anyone have a definitive reference (both pics and/or %) by window (Front Windscreen, Front-Side, Rear-Side, Rear-window) for the amount of tint from the factory?

I assume those that are looking at tinting options are looking at LLumar ATX or similar to not have any reception issues. Anyone out there have other options they would recommend for tinting? Or already much further along on their plans?

I got the optional factory tint - on rear doors and rear screen. Have you looked into that?

ceramic tint film is better in heat rejection and night driving clarity.

Its hard to tell from pictures, does the f10 m5 come standard with smoked rear glass? This as the case on my x5.

Is there an option for the US to order the optional factory tint as mentioned above? Because that would be my first choice, thanks!

I thinks the best films right now are the Llumar Air Blue and the 3M Crystalline. Both give a disproportionate heat reduction to light reduction thanks to ceramic composition.

On the F10 board some people have got rattles from film installs, so be careful. This car is not that film friendly.

I have not seen a break out option for US orders on this. Even so, it would mean there is an uneven level of tinting on the sides front to rear. (yes i have seen this in some of the photos). Where I live the requirement is 32% VLT or more. http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/AL/

I prefer an even tinting on the side glass sections where possible. I can talk to my CA on Monday, but I do not recall this ever being a factory option level.

Stealth,

Does the Llumar Air Blue have a negative impact on the electronic frequency pass-through?

See my topic here http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=683434. Those are darkest Lummar, no issues with electronic frequency pass-through.

Pros:
Looks good, especially on Alpine White
Minimal interior heat under the sun (paint and tint combination helps this)
Tints didn't let my rear window shatter and caused a considerable delay to the failed burglary attempt

Cons:
Driving and parking at night with windows up is not easy, have to rely on cameras

None at all. The RF frequency is completely unaffected.

BTW I don't have photos of my tint job, but there are good pics here.
