Sakhir Orange M5 Morning Pics

I thought I'd post a few pics from a beautiful spring morning around Boston after my "week o'mods".

I generally like a stock look with subtle mods that only an enthusiast's eye would notice. Over the last few days, I installed H&R springs, body color side grilles and a body color RKP front splitter. Inside is Rogue's short-throw kit and IND's tri-color boot. For protection, I went with the Escort 9500ix + Escort Live and Laser Interceptor systems (all nicely integrated into the front grilles, rear lid and interior console). Upgraded audio and maybe exhaust are next . . .

A few call outs: We all use Nate and Ilia's names so often that we take them for granted. But IND is almost the only name an M5 modder needs to know. Great, great guys. Also, I'm incredibly lucky to have Turner Motorsport in my backyard. Not only is their work superb, but you get to drool at a parking lot full of cool BMW street and race cars while you wait (and I got to play in one of their heavily modded M5s and a 1 Series ActiveE). Those of us in the Boston area know that some of the most anal audio and detector installers are at Sound in Motion. It takes a lot to "out-anal" me and, well . . . Finally, I've had the misfortune to befriend fellow M5Post member jmh. He's helping me with coding. A word of warning - DO NOT meet this man unless you have a secret bank account that your wife does not know about. I think each time I'll see jmh's M5, I'll spend another thousand dollars on something that I had no idea that I just had to have. Sick.

Fantastic pics and good to see you got the shifter installed. Anything I need to worry about on my side?

Cool! I think the body color matched RPK Splitter really does the trick. Looks factory to me. Very nice. I also personally appreciate you keeping the stock wheels in the brushed finished instead of murdering them out. Have you thought about doing the front grills in body color matched paint also. The side grills in the body color look fantastic as well. Enjoy in good health brotha.

I think his car looks perfect as is. The body color side grilles work, but I'd leave the signature BMW kidneys alone.

Fantastic car here. Painted splitter looks superb.

Great looking car !
The front splitter in body color makes me rethink to maybe have mine painted too (but matching brilliant white is a whole other issue)
Turner are great guys and I always enjoy visiting them.
Well hopefully Sound in Motion/Derek will complete surgery on mine by the end of next week
so I actually get to drive it , it's been there for 3 weeks.
You better not stop by and see what they do so you get "inspired"
Happy to help with coding and now that I'm back in the country we can pick it up again

I've seen your baby at Sound in Motion. Derek is putting together a quote for my upgraded audio. Coincidence?? As I said, I will regret the day I met you!

Let me know when you're nearby and we can get together. I'll be back at Turner next Friday morning fwiw.

I've held off talking about the short throw shift kit because we've had some small problems. I think mine was the first install. The ssk went in without a problem and all gears are fine except for reverse. Reverse isn't engaging fully and is prone to pop out if too much torque is applied. Of course, IND and Rogue were all over it immediately and sent a re-machined part within a day. I'll get the new part installed at the end of this week.

The forward gears are perfect and this may end up being the best SSK I've ever installed. Shifts are "click-click" quick and precise. And they've done it without the normal reduction in shifter height leaving your hand place where BMW intended.

Love the car... Looks awesome and the mods subtle. I read the comment about the caliper color and blue not matching. I've also thought about what color besides the BMW blue would look right though I guess it really depends on the color of your car. We've seen orange, yellow, red and I believe something resembling gold. The wheels make a difference as well. The more open the spokes the more the colored caliper you see. And I loved the comment about a secret bank account. I've always found however its better to ask forgiveness than permission!

can you post a pic of where you mounted the power switch for the LI. did you mount an LED for visual alert for the LI?

are those grill mounted vertical LI sensors too recessed? how did they test out? love the car...
