KW coilover VS KW Sleeve over
Basically i am just looking to lower the car and get rid of body roll while keeping EDD. What are the pros and cons between the two?

Sleeve is only option to keep ED.
You don't need the full kit, its only for racing applications.

You should also consider the Dinan Coilovers and Sway bars. I have them and am very impressed with the ride quality vs handling balance. I have my car lowered about an inch.

v3 is for the track. If you want a coilover for the street (but you lose Electronic Dampers), you can get v1 or v2 or H.A.S. You will almost never use all the configurable options in the v3 for the street. People just automatically "think" the v3 though because its the model most spouted off. I wonder how many people even know there is V1, V2 and the differences between the versions.

KW HAS KW V3 KW Clubsport Are the only available suspensions for F10M5 from KW The V3 is dual adjustable = compression and rebound in a single shock which is the most common for street tuner applications. The Clubsport is 3-way which is more for race track. The KW V3 is the best suspension mod for this car. Superior handling with better comfort then OE or anything else. If you want to keep the OE EDC shocks (which are subpar to the V3) you can get the KW HAS or Dinan Spring Kits. Then there are the Comp Springs, which lower a bit but don't do much else. And last but definitely least, you can ruin your handling and ride comfort with H&R springs (might as well keep it OE) |

Still, I think the H.A.S. kit is more than enough for 99% of M5 end-users. Even for me and I drive it hard and have comp pack, I'm pretty sure I would be good to go with just the HAS kit to replace comp pack components.

Shocks are a vital component to a car's handling characteristics, more so then springs when it comes to improving comfort and handling ability. You can only soften or harden the ride comfort with springs or degrade the handling with harder springs (as is the case w the H&R spring kit on these cars. However, you can vastly improve ride comfort and handling abilities by replacing the shocks on any car with better, more sophisticated ones. There is a reason race cars have $15k shocks and not just springs replaced with OE shocks. The F10M5 suffers from a heavy chassis (4300 lbs.) and a long wheelbase (good for high speed stability).... the best mods for this car are better shocks and sways to help the car be more nimble and feel lighter. The KW V3 kit accomplishes this very well on this car and makes this car feel 800#s lighter and provides more agile handling. That is worth $3500 over the $1200 spring kit to me all day. And makes the car's power more usable and the overall car experience more fun. |

Just installed Dinan swaybars and KW V3 coilover last night. Can someone let me know the best setting for the V3 for compression and rebound? I do not track and like a smoother ride. Thanks.

McVaughan was kind enough to send me what i sent him months ago
FRONT 6 = Compression 6 = clicks from hardest on rebound REAR 5 = Compression ? = Rebound (could not get to it, behind rear parcel speaker?) For ride height i HIGHLY recommend you get a corner balance done at the same time. You can decide on a ride height then. Contact Toan or Gary @ Platte Forme in El Monte, CA to setup an appointment. (626) 768-0005 Also, the lower you go, the more negative camber (premature inside tire wear). There is no front camber adjustment on these cars. |
