Drivetrain malunction - Gearshift Rod 5-7 Fault

Anyone here experiencing this issue? text from another post;

"I put up a post about a Drivetrain Failure I had on the weekend, thinking I had a misfire. It's occurred a few times but only created a fault code once. It's at Coopers right now and they have reported it as a 'Gearshift Rod 5-7' fault, that is no longer present.

Is this familiar to anyone? It's a bit worrying with only 1 week to go to a big Autobahn & Ring trip

I should reiterate the symptoms are a complete power loss under hard acceleration, when changing up a gear. Presumably the cut in power is the car protecting the gearbox from imminent destruction?!

Just to add to this, I spoke to the tech and he said the gear linkage for 5th & 7th was the problem, and he has raised a PUMA case for it. He did a misfire test on the car for completeness and it came up clean on that front at least.

it is specifically as you change up into 5th under full load. The power dies completely for a moment, then comes back with less oomph. It doesn't appear to mater which 'speed' setting the gearchange is in.

Happens only on the shift 'into' 5th gear and in manual mode not auto.

I did the 4-step adaptation process and problem is now gone (for now at least)

In my case at least this is the precise set of circumstances that will trigger the error:

Manual Mode
4th Gear
Full throttle
Last 1000rpm of rev range
DSC activating erratically due to uneven road surface
Change up.
Boom. Happens every time.
5th Gear locked out until restart of engine.

One thing I changed was the DCT torque limit during shifts (via flash).

Well there are three potential fixes on the table for this now to be proved out;

- replace trans (not an option after warranty expires and problem may come back)

- replace old trans fluid 15k miles+

- readapt clutch

- ECU tune to raise the torque intervention threshold....(change the DCT torque limit during shifts)"
