have you driven a 14 or later? Felt the same way about the 13 car but 14+ competitions ignite my passions in a very different way. It's the same chassis so maybe that feeling can be replicated in your 13. Of course neither is a 911... nor is a 911 a formula car (my preferred instrument of weekend driving).

The 6-speed also makes a big difference for me. Objectively worse but adds a little bit of silliness/ridiculousness to the car which I desire.

Many valid points here, yes I plan on modding but I only have 10k miles on it and I want to persevere the reliability before I start installing jb4 etc....I also used to have a 2007 335i which was FBO and I had so many issues and I feel that for now I'd rather have a little slower of a car than pick up a few ponies and screw with the constant xmas tree display I'd enjoy nearly everytime I'd step on the gas. I already deleted the exhaust which helped make it feel more like an m. Don't get me wrong, this car is insanely fast as it stands, that's not my gripe. Maybe my biggest fear is coming true, maybe I'm getting older and don't appreciate cars as much as I used to

I am new to the whole F10 platform but from what it looks like going by youtube (Not the best source) it looks like the competition pack would've been the package for you, I have not driven a base but I am going straight into a competition package, hopefully it is what they say lol (better steering, tuned suspension, etc)

Sometimes you have to trade from that nymphomaniac to something more wholesome that can still get the job done if you get my drift. It's called aging and the F10M5 is something you can take home to mom as well as to Sandals for some bedroom acrobatics. Its ALL good.

Totally disagree. If I had to drive around in a stock M5 I would be bored as hell and even more in a stock E46 LOL

I too came from a E64 V10 beast and i was in the same boat....until I put Meister exhaust and catless donwpipes on the F10 then it was game over.

A few other cosmetic mods and a tune and I never looked back.

Cheers,
Anthony

Dont mis understand I'm not saying modding may or may not make the car better. I just can't wrap my head around the idea that I MUST mod my car to love it.

I modded my e46 changed the exhaust put euro headers. But I loved the car much before I changed anything about it. Sure modding it makes it more personal and makes it more you but the fact that I should mod it to make it even harder to drive in the street just doesn't make sense.

Laugh all you want but the e46 m3 was an absolute blast to drive and will forever be one of my favorite cars.

I'm a YYYYUUUUUGEEEEEE believer in modding the car, there was no way I wasn't going to mod my old e60 and same goes with the f10. Maybe you guys are right, once I get some more mods under my belt I'll snap out of this "I regret breaking up with her" depression I've slipped into.

I completely sympathize with the OP here, coming from a 2010 M6 that was evolve tuned, with evolve intakes, eurosmg and a few other tasteful mods.
This car (a 2015 Space Grey, comp pack) feels big and heavy and much more artificial. That said, I am heading towards some modding and will look forward to the changes.

Start with loading a tune. It will not feel heavy and big anymore. A Buddy drove my car last Saturday and told me how surprised he was that the car felt so sporty and quick versus stock.

I really like my F10 M5. It doesn't stand head and shoulders above every other car at the time like the E39, or scream "wild child" like the E60, but it amazes me every time how smooth and quick it can be on any road from interstate to race track.

However, now that I have the X4 M40i, its default mode is noticeably more sporty (exhaust, throttle response, low RPM torque, steering, & ride). Yet it is still great as a daily driver.

However, pressing M1 in the M5 with the proper settings, wakes it up, allowing one to remember why the car is so great. the only downside being the jerky throttle in traffic which I deal with daily... Oh, and the high likely hood of getting a speeding ticket without realizing you're going so fast in what ever situation....

Dude you need to drive my F10. I know exactly what you are talking about. I even was a little depressed after I got rid of my E60. This F10 though with the right mods is just as wild and crazy as the E60 was but at the same time more refined. Also the reliability of the F10 is what turns me on the most about it. Seriously though lets meetup and we'll go for a drive.

I like the F10 M5 as a daily, but never grew to love it (as I loved my M3 or Z06). Whether you're stock at 575hp or modded to 700+ it still is a (relatively) lazy, numb, and artificial experience compared to more visceral cars like the E60 M5, etc. The F10 is seriously fast though (especially with such little mods), and for that it deserves its own credit. I could see myself getting rid of this car, as where with others I really couldn't imagine a worthy replacement at the time.

Wish you could ride in my car too, lazy, numb, and artificial isn't how I would describe this car with the right mods. Stock yes, you are absolutely right.

Dave;
I know you gave your car a fantastic wrap and deleted the mufflers. What else did you do to turn it into what you felt it should have been from the factory?
Thx!

Just read my Mika v3.0 thread. Everything is there. I raced a 2016 Vette Z06 last night and destroyed it. I also raced an Underground Racing twin turbo Gallardo last week and didn't do terrible against it. I also weighed my car a few weeks ago and I dropped over 80lbs between the exhaust, wheels, and titanium lug bolts. It's still heavy but my M5 flies! I want to race a 488 next. Lol!

I owned e60 & F10 at the same time but I loved how the 60 stood out so much more than the F10 and the sound of the motor is complete bliss. When I drive the F10 its like no one know what it is. But when i drove the e60 its like everyone knew it was an m5. Unfortunately, my e60 got into an accident and was considered a total loss. I debated about getting another one but decided against it since I already had the F10. So I opted for the dark side and picked up a 12 E63 AMG.

I sold my M5 and this my get some bad comments
E 63 S AMG has more soul than the M5 . TO me M5 and BMW cars in general have gradually lost some soul with numb steering, below average engine sound which are very important for people that enjoy the driving experience
