Chassis Warning
I have KW V3 coilers and started the car yesterday and got the chassis warning. I saw Pertplus' post about the EDC modules overheating on long drives, but my car was sitting in the garage. I attempted to disconnect and re-connect the front modules, however I'm still getting the error. Has anyone had these modules go bad?

Mine are still good, but I've had them less time than you. I have felt the front modules after a drive and they can be quite warm. They seem warmer than from just the hot air in the engine compartment. My rear modules are the same as the front, the heavy, black cylinder rather than the box shape that was mounted under the rear package tray in the trunk as shown in pictures of the IND installation. Mine are tucked under the rear seat back on each side and I haven't looked at them since the install. The KW directions have the rear modules connected to the shock wiring from the trunk side, and that didn't work for the wiring in my 11/2012 build M5.

Interestingly the light turned itself off after a restart on a drive up to Austin. Will continue to monitor it and may just code out the warning if it comes back.

Matt I haven't had that prob since i put the correct conn in. When you see me I'll look at your car for you. If they are the wrong pins I'll know. That way I can fix it if you still have your oem shocks.

My guess would be an electrical connection problem. Look at my post in this thread http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1121369
The picture shows the adapter needed to connect the stock wire loom to the EDC delete module that came with the V3. At first I didn't have the wires pushed into the adapter far enough and got the warning. All of the rubber weather sealant surrounding the wires needs to be pushed into the adapter, allowing the pin connector to make the connection. When I did that the warning went away and hasn't returned. That would be the first place I'd check. That's only on the front EDC modules, the rears aren't the same. |

You have the KW modules...I have experienced 2 bad modules in the past. With a diagnostic you can see which corner is setting the fault. Maybe you have a bad wire connection to the module ? Last edited by A Frankfurt; 07-21-2015 at 07:04 PM.. |

I too am having this issue, have the KW EDC delete units installed but not doing anything ; tried to hunt down what coding is required to get rid of them, anyone with experience coding them out know what to turn off exactly? Do I need to pull some fuse pins after?

Of course a company always wants to blame the install rather then their component.
Glad you got it replaced under warranty tho. I have a few experiences with bad KW modules but luckily always got them to warranty the component. |
