Fabspeed vs Turner muffler delete

Any big differences between the two or is a muffler delete a muffler delete. I did notice that the Fabspeed one states given its "y" design it has less drone? Does that comment hold any water?

I haven't heard the fabspeed but I personally have the turner and the drone is only noticeable in 1.8k RPM. I am always in S2/S3 so I only hear it when downshifting.

I just had Hg Motorsports in San Diego install my Turner exhaust, awesome shop.. & Wow- I love it. Bought the exhaust from a forum member (thanks RAY KNIGHT). Great sound with minimal to no drone, screams when you are on it but just a nice mild tone during normal driving. Tips Looks great too

Very happy with my Turner. Actually much better than expected... minimal drone window around 1800, not an issue for me.
Drive in 6th on hwy and it's almost stock quiet. Step on it, watch out. Very fitting for this car. Recommend disabling ASD.

I had it and removed it after about a year on it. Drone didn't bother me most of the time but it's those mornings where you just don't want to deal with it that made me sell it.
Personally if i did it again i'd go with electric exhaust cutouts.

I agree the morning cold starts are very loud and obnoxious. It's not just the Turner, it's all the other exhausts as well that are louder than stock.

I'm getting downpipes in a week. I plan to code out the cold start.

While I don't have the turner setup, I do have a custom muffler delete setup. Disabling the active sound made a huge difference in the sound quality. I also left the stock resonators in place which may be helping the drone issue. Car is much more enjoyable now than when it was stock.

A friend of mine did the RPI GTM which is straight pipped and no muffler nor resonator. Sounds the same. I think any muffler delete you do will sound extremely close to each other.

What color M5 do you have? I'm in Irving

If i did it again i would opt for for a fully designed aftermarket muffler out of the many choices that are available vs. muffler deletes.

I usually like it. However it can be obnoxious when leaving the house at 4:30am to catch a flight. I'm sure my neighbors love it less. Actually set off some alarms today in a parking garage.

I'm literally doing this exact thing tomorrow and I parked ass-in in the garage for a quick exit. I love the Turner but I'm sure my neighbors hate it.

That's funny. Thought I was the only one. I've actually kept the garage door closed a few times while firing up when leaving at O-dark-thirty.

Gents,

Looking at the Turner Axle-back exhaust, I decided to try a custom muffler delete solution for my M5 and this is what I did.

Parts and Labor
  • Flow-Pro ST123C1 SS Dual Exhaust Tips - $110 for 2 w/shipping
  • Flowmaster SF300 Slip Connector - $40 for 2 w/shipping
  • SmartParts 100300 3" Lap Joint - $20 for 2 w/shipping
  • 1/4" Dorman Vacuum Caps PN 47393 - $2
  • Muffler Shop to Install - $100

For a Total of $272 I got my muffler delete custom installed and sound MUCH better than Stock!

I mean, thats what I would do, the owners at Fabspeed and Tuner are probably laughing at how we can spend so much on just straight pipes, my buddy had them done for 250$ labor and parts at a muffler shop.
