Big price difference between stage 1 to stage 2 , most likely you will have to ship your turbos for them to modify but if you can afford go for stage 2's , I personally am gonna go for the stage 1's since they almost make the same power , stage 2's pull harder at higher speeds I heard and make a bit more power but nothing too crazy compared to stage 1's.

reviews from members ( Honest Brother ) ,really I am apriciat to with in BMW family
1- I've never heard of Stage 2's blowing. They are more efficient than stage 1's. The Stage 1's will blow before the Stage 2's. You can make a lot more power at a lower psi with Stage 2. They're so much better than Stage 1. 2- Stage 2's are more expensive, but you won't regret it. They make so much more power at the top end. I'm so glad I went with Stage 2. You'll buy the Stage 1 and instantly regret it! 3- The problem with stage 1 is that its going to feel more linear because the turbo will max out pretty fast. The pure stage 2 will give you more actual power. If you want to go pure stage 1 then thats perfectly fine. Its all about what you think will work best for your set up. 4- there will be more potential with stage II but in all honesty i don't think stage II is worth the extra money. Larger turbos will allow you to make power more efficiently at the same boost as the stock turbos 5- I have pure stage 2 and everything else you have. Honestly do stage 1 or stick to factory and get a good tune 6- there will be more potential with stage II but in all honesty i don't think stage II is worth the extra money. Larger turbos will allow you to make power more efficiently at the same boost as the stock turbos. However, if you can wait i would advise on waiting a few months as there are other companies working on turbos that will have stock fitment and are supposed to be superior to Pure Turbos. I have not seen any tests so at this point it is all hear say but Duel Ball Bearing, Titanium Billet Forged compressor wheel and turbine turbos will perform better than Pure Turbos. 7- With everything i see you have pure stage 2 will work fine. As long as you are running meth. I would definitely get a custom flash for your DME's 8- As for turbos you need to get stage 2, I know it's more money but it is more power. I don't know what you saw but the power is more for stage 2, you can do more than 800whp+ with stage 2! Bigger turbos are safer on engine as well, because they will build less heat with same pressure, so a stock turbo at 24psi vs stage 1 and stage 2, the stage 2 output will be cooler compressed air, that's what you want cooler compressed air that's why you have an intercooler to cool it even more. Fuel is fine, 92 is better than California 91. It just means you can't run as much boost as you would like too. but you should see if you can increase your octane 9- Stage 1 and stage 2 pure turbos will make the same power but stage 2 will be more efficient and the car will pull much better at higher speeds like 200kmh+ , both are safe if you install properly , yes you will need a BEF tune for maximum output and even for the best power output you can make a custom map for your jb4 for the turbo setup . As for the fuel 92 is fine and meth . You might want to upgrade your axles to DSS axles , at that power you might brake them 10- It's worth the money in my opinion and the stage 2 will be cooler temp plus they will also peak later in rpm while yeh stage 1 will fall flat like the stock ones 11- Both are similar for peak power but stage 2 can hold power for longer. Both are only as safe as you can tune them! I wouldn't go more than 22psi if 92 octane is the best fuel you have. S2 has more machining on the turbine side as well 12- you need to be flashed in order to run turbos. Do the stage 1, stage 2 is negligible imo. dump the jb4, or you can stack it with the flash if you want 13- Good luck man! The rods are the weak point on these motors. 14- S1 is fine for stock motor. Brother 15- To be honest my friend... with 95/92 octane fuel, it's not safe long term in my opinion 16- I had the Pure Stage 2 on my previous M5. I had a tune through Mo at DME Tuning along with the JB4. The Stage 2 turbos are safe for your engine, but make sure you get a back end flash from one of the companies out there. I'm currently using BootMod3. 17- For now S1 is fine - not much more gains with S2 unless you start building the engine etc. 18- Stage 2's are more expensive, but you won't regret it. They make so much more power at the top end. I'm so glad I went with Stage 2. You'll buy the Stage 1 and instantly regret it! 19- stg2 for S63tu. It can make more power even with the lower boost pressure for pump gas low octane. It holds the power curve longer too. It's superior to Stg1. The few failures we have seen are cars running 35psi boost! And it was EGT related 20- Stg2. It's capable of more power at less boost. It's more efficient because of the larger turbine wheels. Both are safe and works well with pump gas. The choice is yours. Stg2 has larger customer turbines. Both stg1 and stg2 are reliable upgrades intended for daily drivers. Stg2 is capable of an extra ~60whp over stg1. The most we have seen from stg2 currently, is 858whp I think thats enough to take decision and I am now with stage 2 and wait my turbos |

Glad you made a decision and hope you enjoy them.
BTW, half the responses you tallied are conflicting...! Last edited by allmotor_2000; 07-18-2017 at 11:04 PM.. |
