I think they are Bosch on S63 motors. But NGK is used on other BMW motors and they are available in 2 step colder. They are iridium and platinum like the OEM ones.

Was looking for new plugs and came across this thread.
Where are you finding this info? This is wrong. 97506 are stock S63tu plugs, not 2 steps colder. See attachments:

Most of the misfires come from tuning and the targeted AFR ratios. Cold plugs are certainly better but gapped stock plugs should work fine while the tune is sorted out.

Rated M Roadster posted a screenshot from Terry about the N20 & S63TU engines. I've got the S63 non-TU, so I need to hop onto www.realoem.com and compare. I already had new plugs as is before I started getting higher boost misfires, so if the 97506 isn't colder than what comes stock in my truck, I can only assume it's the tighter gaps that's helped but ultimately I want to go colder as well per NGK's article about why to go colder when adding HP.
I found this while searching Google for this thread: https://www.n54tuning.com/ngk-97506-...park-plug.html |

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I'm rather confused about the heat range of NGK spark plugs. NGK heat range 8 is stock for the F10 M5 and it's listed on their site for the 97506 SILZKBR8D8S spark plug. So, if one is looking for a 1 step "colder" spark plug, the heat range needed is a 9 according to NGK range - but every spark plug mentioned in this thread is either an 8 or a 7. I understand you all reference hotter/colder for N20/N54/N55 motors, but since we're on the F10 M5 forum with the S63 motor - if heat range 8 is stock, which spark plug from NGK is a heat range 9 (1 step colder)?
Even Turner doesn't seem to understand this: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...plug-set-of-8/ they list this as 1 step colder but those are just 97506 SILZKBR8D8S Heat range 8 spark plugs that are stock/OEM heat range for the F10 M5. |

Hey guys, I know that it says to always run colder when you are adding HP, I have a 2013 BMW F10 M5 and I have approximately 62k miles and I would like to change my plugs and coils before installing the JB4 tune. I currently have catless downpipes and cold air intake and there has been a substantial gain already. When you buy the NGK Iridium they are saying they already come gapped, what would be the gap that I should run them at and/or should I change them?
