Coils: OEM or Bosch?
Hi All --
I'm about to replace the coils and plugs on my car, and I've seen a few versions of coil replacements. I believe Bosch makes the OEM versions, but there is an actual OEM branded coil @ $53/ea, vs. a Bosch coil at $28/ea. For those that have replaced coils and plugs on their 2013, which did you go with? Any potential issues with no using 100% OEM branded? I also see that there is a different part # for the 2014+ coils vs. 2013. Not sure why? Thanks Brad

The NGK is the plug specified for the stock 4.4 s63tu motor by NGK. I have read opinions of others on this forum that it is a colder plug than the stock Bosch plug. I haven't been able to confirm that, so I took NGK's word for it and used theirs. Both the coils and plugs seem to work just fine. |

I ended up getting the OEM stuff from getBMWparts. The coil packs are in BMW boxes but only say Bosch on the part itself. Will snap a pic and post in here for reference.

I have no idea. My stock plugs are still good as far as I know, and I've saved them, but I was getting a flash tune and wanted to start fresh with plugs and coils. If you don't feel a misfire I see no reason to change them. Run a scan to see if you have any trouble codes every once in a while to keep tabs on things.
