Just picked up my M5 and got a great deal on it. BMW threw a bunch out on the market since they will have to stop production for the LCI change over.

I also think more than a few people are intimidated by the car judging by the number of discussions about AWD, traction control and the like.
What kind of deal did you get on your M5?

Here's an interesting fact I just noticed on Autotrader.

I just did a search for used 2013 Panamera S, GTS and Turbo models within 100 miles of Miami. There are 6 used 2013 Panameras for sale with prices above $100k (1 turbo, 2 GTS and 3 S models). A week ago there were 2 2013 Turbos.

There are no used 2013 M5s for sale within 100 miles for Miami.

This suggests that the market of higher powered Panameras is softer than that for M5s.

If A=B, and B=C, then A=C.

So many flaws with the statement above.

Well i dont think you have accurately represented the logic as Hodges would do.

The only gap in the logic is the absence of a denominator. I.e. what is relevant is not the number of cars but the percentage of cars for sale. I don't know the denominator, but I would believe the M5 has a higher volume than the GTS and Turbo combined based on the lower price and dealer allocation levels. So this would suggest my conclusion is likely correct.

What is more debatable is the statistical relevance of 100 miles around Miami. However it is one of the largest luxury car markets in the country.

How many cars stay close to Miami (do people buy and then move or move their cars)?
How many new cars were sold there and then exported to Brazil and other Caribbean/Latin American or European or Asian countries?
How many cars were sold in the Miami / South Florida area (what was the original allocation vs. cars for sale) ?

The reason I bring this up is that I owned a Nissan GT-R. We had the same discussion - but I was on your side of the discussion last time.

There are other factors - I'm just not willing to use Miami as a proxy for the cars for sale. "100 miles of Miami" covers a couple MSA's - Miami/Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, RSW, and Orlando, among others. Tampa? Jacksonville?

Reason 1, people buy $100k+ cars go through new cars sooner then we expect.

Reason 2, AMG didn't sell many E63 over 2011/2012.

Reason 3, financial situation changes

Reason 4, there just ain't enough mods to satisfy some

Reason 5, wife hates the "Noise" made by the car, especially comparing to her hybrid Lexus.

Reason 6, won lottery and moving forward to the world of exotic cars

Reason 7, "the car can't do off-road"

Reason 8, .........

Arghhhhhh, I found my sleeping pill and off to bed.

From what I've heard, BMW is really pushing the F10, more so than any previous gen. They don't want them to be so 'exclusive' and want to put as many people in them as they can so it only makes sense they have them readily available. At least that's what I heard last year from BMW dealers...

To add an update to this thread, I have been told by two BMW Sales people, that are personal friends of mine, that the production for the 2013 F10 M5 has already ended and ended a little while ago. My guess is that they made a bunch of 2013 model year M5's to beef up the market with them as they make preparations to start production on the 2014 LCI M5's and M6's. At which point they will not be producing as many from the beginning and the production numbers will be much more leveled out over the next few years compared to the spike in production numbers they had for the 2013's. Time will tell I guess.

Let the first owner take the depreciation hit

I am the second owner of a 2013 M5.
Original MSRP $104,500 with B&O etc.
Production date 7/12
3,000 miles. Flawless.
My price $89,900. Purchased 2/13.
At the time that was just about Manheim wholesale pricing.

Just under 90k seems to be the sweet spot. Most I've been following with 3-5k miles sell when the price drops to around 88-89k.

What is invoice on a 104k car?

I thought about picking up one of the low mileage ones here in Texas. There were several in the Houston area but none had full leather except one that was blk/blk and I don't like that combo. It was the cheapest. Instead, I was able to leverage the oversupply to bring down my cost on a new one with everything I wanted. The sticker was $112k and I got it for $102k. Just drove it home Wednesday. I drove a 2010 535i for the last three years and had the Dinan Stage 2 tune. It was a great car but I have been yearning for an M5 and now was the time to pull the trigger with all this excess inventory.
