Yes they are, surprisingly. Probably why they are a $9300 option.

I'm having trouble getting onto the BMW website, but I thought I remembered that the CCBs were not covered by the scheduled maintenance. I dug up an old article that I wrote back in 2012 when I was freelancing as an automotive journalist and here is the screen shot that I had.

I wonder if they are now saying that they are covered because they are not "scheduled" to be replaced in the first 4 years/50,000 miles.

My SA (who heads the local CCA chapter and tracks a lot) says they will be covered. I am a bit skeptical if they prove "excessive" use from track driving, but who knows. If covered, I would spec them without hesitation. Well, actually I would spec them regardless. They are awesome

I think it's changed! I just looked at the BMWNA website. CCB is $9250 now and the description doesn't say anything about warranty coverage

I remember this as well, but I guess things change! BMW must have found out they aren't as sensitive to damage as they thought!

I believe their covered, but unless your tracking the car monthly getting them replaced within 4 years is unlikely.

If you are an advanced level solo driver I'd give the CCB's 15- 20 track days tops before they are toast assuming they are = or better than Porsches. 600hp on a >4000lb car is a lot of heat.At my local track Roebling road I would expect to be braking from the limiter (159mph GPS every lap) thats going to be a lot of brake work. That being said not many if any will see that many track days. I'm planning on tracking mine once this August just on principle , but tire costs, track insurance , etc. will be prohibitive for regular use even discounting brake wear. I'll report back after on how she holds up, specifically outside tire edge wear, oil temps etc.

I read somewhere that all of the M cars at the M Performance school are using Carbon Ceramic Brakes now. They used to have to replace the brakes on the M cars once every 1-2days at the school with the steel rotors but now they only replace them once a month with the CCB's. I'd imagine that the cars at the M school get a lot more braking action than any one individual can put on their own personal M car in a month. This is what I heard anyway.

Tracked the M5 last week and kept DSC on during first session. The CCBs we smoking after 20 minutes from trying to keep the car stable. Won't get 15-20 track days out of the CCBs like that. MDM mode was better (brakes weren't smoking). Never turned DSC off completely.

Most people attending the M schools are very green , even though they over brake they are not carrying as much speed into the braking zones either . So replacing every month there vs 15 -20 days consisting of an hour of legitimate hard track time is consistent .

I'm guessing that this is exactly what BMW was thinking when they made the change. It will be interesting when people need replacements prior to 4 years to see how BMW handles it.

My guess is that it will come down to the relationship the person has with the service adviser and dealership.

This is what my CA told me (not covered) which is why i did not spec them

No it looks like they priced it into the option price.
