I'm happy with the stock F10 M5 exhaust system. It actually sounds good and with Cyba's 90 mm polished tips...it looks great. I bought the M performance exhaust for my M3, but won't be buying it for my M5. No need.

They do. I remember being a video posted here on Alpina and how they worked with Akrapovic. I just don't know if they work with them on all Alpina models or a select few.

BMW is clearly putting THEIR M/// logo on Akrapovic's exhaust. you can CLEARLY see the Akrapovic logo on the bottom of the muffler.

Once again. I'm fully aware that Akra made the exhaust like I stated in one of my previous comments. I was simply stating that BMW will put the "M" logo where the eyes can see. In this case on the tips. BMW would NEVER put someone else's logo on a performance part they "developed" where people can see it

Agreed on the Meisterschaft. In love with mine and sounds way better than this. IMO of course

I maintain BMW is using Apple's approach and boning all their customers 6 months after the latest greatest device with a new latest greatest.

I am walking away from the Apple scam and everyone should walk away from BMW selling you an Akra exhaust on a Mcar that you just paid $100k that should have had the exhaust from the start.

Its laughable...

Seriously? So what your saying us that BMW released an M Performance exhaust already for the M5 and then found a way to make it minimally better but charged more money for it? No, they didn't. Even if BMW is selling a rebranded Akrapovic exhaust they still did not dupe customers six months ago with the first version only to come out with a newer barely different version of the exhaust shortly after. Akrapovic has their version and BMW has their version and even if Akrapovic made BMW's exhaust and they are technically the same they are still marketed under two different brands. Unfortunately I don't agree with your comparison.

Yes this exhaust should come stock on the M5/M6 or be offered as a no cost option that the owner decides if they want or not based on their preferences. I just don't see how Apple's philosophy compares to what BMW is doing by offering this exhaust or any other M Performance parts.

BMW knows that people who purchase an M5/M6 have money to burn. They also know that they can milk this demographic for even more money on items like this. Here on the forums, we know better. Unfortunately we are in the minority. You know what they say about a fool and his money...

Thanks bro! I can't wait to get mine next week! I have more ideas for videos, and I'm gonna start making videos of my friends F10 M5's with the different exhausts on them!

+1 they have found the fountain of money, the American public that will pay for somewhat exclusivity.

I plan on leasing my M5 once the LCI hits. I have debated putting an aftermarket exhaust on when I get the car. I was considering Meisterschaft or Eisenmann race. If I put one of those systems on I would have to come out of pocket for the exhaust and instillation, then store the original exhaust, and pay to have it re install it when I turn the car in. I wonder if going with the BMW M "Akrapovic" exhaust would be a better option as I don't have to deal with storing the original exhaust and re installing the original. If it increases my payment $100-$125 a month in my payment, it would probably cost me significantly less than purchasing an exhaust my self. Is my thinking flawed?

If a 10k muffler makes you happy, then I'm happy for you. 2 for 1 here.

I'll agree with you on the $10,000 part. That would be crazy. The Akrapovic system is normally Around $8000, that's why I didn't even consider them as my 2 considerations were in the $4000-$4500 range. But I'm just wondering how much the BMW system will increase the payment on a lease. If it's something like $100 per month = $3600 then I would think it makes sense... And no headache of changing back to the original when turning in...

Sometimes if you add a BMW Performance part or M Performance part into your lease it can be residualized. It depends on what parts qualify and if BMW is offering it at the time of your lease. I've seen it offered in sales bulletins in the past.

here's my guess,

$12000.00 for "competition package" - M6 steering wheel, stiffer suspension, carbon fiber interior trim, M-performance exhaust

$20000.00 for "competition plus package" - everything from competition package plus carbon ceramic brake

My thoughts exactly. I use for taking staff and clients to meetings etc. perfect sounding for that purpose. Have another toy on the way for the "me" days!

Which is insane, as I can't see myself paying $130,000+ for an F10 M5, when dealers are willing to sell 2013 model M5's at or below invoice when the LCI hits U.S. shores.

Well, being that this is all conjecture, its not insane, it is a guess. I wish people would stop just wildly making up figures and then using them as arguments.
