[QUOTE=racer10;12718797]Thanks, I just emailed the Sales and Service managers to see what this is and if my car is affected. Will come back with their response.

Dealer wants me to stop driving car and will pick it up.
They expect to have it for several weeks.

I've got a call in to my dealer to see if I'm on the list. Damn and tomorrow was the first time I was going to get to take the wife out in the new car with out the kids!

I'll update if I'm in the recall as well.

Honestly bmw needs to get their shit together
The n54s were realeased with bad fuel pumps, you would think they would properly test theyre new cars after the fuel pump embarrassment.
Bmw is very good at fixing their problems, but to pay this much money for a car and to have to stop driving it immediately for a defect in the design is ridiculous.

Wow. This sucks. At least they are catching this early before too many cars are affected (regrets to BarryB for being the index case).

I'm surprised we have to stop driving the car - people put a lot of miles on these cars during ED already and only 1 (admittedly big) problem so far.

Do we know for sure that there is a fix readily known/available? I guess if some cars are NOT on the list, then they must have isolated to a bad vendor or bad batch of parts....

Trying to figure out of 2-3 weeks is a real estimate or does it mean "we have no clue, but are working hard."

I called dealer to see if my car is on the list. It is supposed to leave on Fidelio tomorrow.....

I hope they ship the car now and the repair parts arrive via FedEx at the port before my car does.....

No joke. There are a ton with over 1,200 miles already. How are thy going to get them off the boat if you can't drive them? Is the repair to be done at the VPC or back at the home dealer?

Lot of questions still.

Sorry for all those new owners and those who were planning on picking up soon (especially at Welt/Performance Center)

Just called BMW NA and according to what they just told me : any car that hasnt been delivered and/or warranty started (in service) they will not have any information because the VIN isnt loaded into their system. The dealer will get a list of VINs they sold that are/will be affected if they are on their way... BMW NA cant help because the car will already be fixed by the time they can access/see the information. waiting on my sales dude to call me back and tell me if i am affected. Production date for me started 9/4 and was at the dock by 9/10.... i hope 'THROUGH SEPTEMBER' means the cars they produced after their august vacation are OK... and not 'including september'...

This is what I think happened. I think the tear-down of Barry's motor revealed what was going on. I don't think this is a design problem.

When I got the call, the lady said there was a recall on the car. I ecstatically interupped her and said this is about the seats, right? Silence. No, this is about the oil pump She said don't drive the car. I said its kind of hard to right now because it is on the Toronto in the Atlantic right now. I explained the seat problem and she said she would get back to me....

LOL!

You should have said, while they are fixing the oil pump, they should just go ahead and fix the missing side bolster adjustment button issue!
