Well you are making my point about whats "safe". As far as blown engines i hope at some point we can all discuss the details of those builds

I agree, This will definitely help others determine what limits they want to go and what parts they can start looking to replace.

Don't get me wrong, it's their money and their choice and they can do whatever they want to make themselves happy, but hiding the reality to push the others to go their way (and of course make somebody else more rich) is not fair and ethical... well...IMO
I agree - the tuners need to be more open about it. If/when I blow my engine I will be open about it :-)

The issue is you can't attribute abusive usage (poor gas, tuning, other idiotic things people do) to longevity of these engines and components. So far in my opinion a well tuned and more importantly consistently maintained car can run 720-750whp day in and day out.

wont happen. i wouldn't be posting up here if i blew my motor running 800+ hp and having it towed to the dealer for "goodwill" and the tuners sure as hell aren't going to speak up.

Please excuse my ignorance, how does your tune impact the life of your coil packs? Plugs I understand, but coils should last every 2-3 plug changes right?

Gotcha. I guess it's not terrible if you do it yourself. OEM parts are $630/set.

Replacing ignition coils when doing plug changes?! Isn't that a bit excessive?

Seems like misfire codes would be the giveaway before dropping $600 +/- every 10-15k.

I always suggest coil replacement on 2013's and below when tuning the car. Have seen too many of them go bad, even one that exploded and shorted the dme.

Worth the $3-400 price tag to prevent a more expensive one...

1st gen X5M vs M5, so nothing like the power you guys are pushing, but I guess I should replace them since I'm pushing 70k with a handful of mods.

Coils and plugs are cheap- a missfire can bend a rod or melt a piston land- not so cheap.

If running lots of Meth, 3-5k on oil sounds right- could send oil for testing but it isn't worth it in my opinion, just run fresh oil and filter.
