F10 M5 CP dinantronics stage 2 Installed
Had the dealership install the dinantronics stage 2 Wednesday and after driving the car , it doesn't feel faster to me. A few times on light throttle , the traction light flashes and the car stalls. Kind of scary pulling onto a road with traffic and having a car stall and then pickup again. Not sure I'll keep it on as stock the car felt faster.

Should be very evident that extra power is present on the M5 which leads me to believe something is amiss. Have you downloaded the bluetooth app and played with turning it off and on / various stages to get a back to back comparison? |

If traction is the issue, try some high speed runs in gear 4 and 5 and there you should really feel the difference another option is to run traction off as this stops the computer pulling boost and closing the throttle while adding brakes.

I am not a Dinan fan and think much of it is hype. If you don't want to rely on your butt dyno and hate throwing money away, do a simple test. Easiest way to know is to track your car on some qtr mile runs stock for a baseline, then have Dinan installed and head back to the track. You should be able to see a difference on the time slip. Remember not to power brake or launch coming off the line to keep it simple and accurate.

Man, I gained nearly 100whp when I installed Dinan stage 2. Something must be off.
Did you pre and post dyno?

Also, put it in M mode or turn off DSC completely. I hate that stupid nanny always getting in my business, I don't mind a little tire spin that I can control with the throttle. Cutting my power is what I hate. If you start to spin, pull a gear and keep going.

I have driven it in sport plus with traction off and mdm
mode on. I will download the bluetooth app today and will set it to baseline and return to the dealer. Definitely not feeling anything to let me know I have a tune. Last edited by E39TOF10; 06-02-2016 at 03:25 AM.. |

Ok. Now I am totally confused. I went back to the dealership and they reinstalled the stage 2 software and again it wasn't that fast to me. After about an hour they told me to drive the car over the weekend and if still no love , come back next week. At the dealership we switched between stage 2 and the base map. After driving the car around town and stopping for lunch I switched to stage 1 just to see. Stage 1 feels faster to me. I only have an akrapovic exhaust and no intake
but I didn't think it would matter. Not sure if I should just get my 250 back or give the stage 2 more time. Stage 1 definitely seems smoother . |

car does take time to adapt, 3-4 full throttle pulls 3-5th, some times an over night and and another few pulls and its fully adapted. Car will feel rough and down slightly on power until then.
Most that have piggy installed don't see this part of the process as your installing tech does the adaption runs. If you went JB4 you would have logs and see the boost, AFR and ignition all adapt over the runs as further evidence. Good luck. |

Ok. Maybe that's it. I have only been accelerating from 1st gear. The tech the same. I will go out today and try 3 or 4 full throttle runs and see if stage 2 is faster tomorrow. At least I now know there is a performance gain.

you will never know in 1st and 2nd as theres not enough traction even standard, 3rd will be the same i.e no traction when tuned then 4th up it should just dig in and go like whole hell.
Even with MDM it will limit performance in 3rd gear but start there when used to the feel try full traction off. |

I understand the fascination with Dinan because it does not void your warranty. Plug and play tunes seem to be the safest way to go especially if you are leasing.
Anybody with experience with a tune and warranty? I have also wondered how much of a difference there is between say a jb4 and a tune in reality? jb4 for $450 vs tunes that can run thousands. Is it really that noticeable? |

My difference was night and day after I installed the Dinan stage 1. I went back for stage 2 a few weeks later.

Only went once.
Atrocious 60' was 2.35 and ran a 12.6 - but 1/4 mile MPH was 127 so that tells me I should be deep into 11's with traction. I have a Track wheels/tire thread with ideas from some of the pro's here. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1224797

Yeah, you must have had major traction issues. I did 12.5 @ 112mph in my 13' 750li w/ a jb4.
Once I get passed the 1200 mile break in period I will take my car to the track and see what it can do stock, then look into maybe a tuner. |
