6WB in US?

Anyone aware whether 6WB is available in the US in any other models? It doesn't appear to be in the '14 M5 here. It looks really slick though - you can see what it looks like here:

I really dislike these LCD gauges. They look good in photos, but in reality they always look cheap.

Fortunately M Division has opted out for now.

The 6-Series cars for 2014 appear to have it as an option. I imagine the 7-Series will, too. 5-Series ordering guides don't currently list the option, which is odd. Perhaps a later production date might get it.

M cars will probably never get it, due to the refresh rate and some other technical concerns.

Dislike x100 the digital dials as shown. Maybe in the future if done right.

IMO the static dials with red needles and illuminated M logo plus the lower bottom section in all digital is the perfect balance and the way to go.

I wish the M instrument panel was more like my old F10 550. When off, the black panel was just awesome to look at. I liked that it was somewhat customizable with coding, used colors other than blue, could show nav directions, etc. When my HUD is in M mode I lose turn-by-turn and have to distract myself by looking at the iDrive screen.

Maybe for 2014 they'll rectify this.

Agree. The black panel was the best. I don't know why they didn't develop an M Black Panel. It's such an obvious thing.

Damn, I just realized this.

Isn't it black panel though (since info is available throughout the bottom of the cluster), but just lacks the navigation feature in the lower left and middle area?

It's a hybrid black panel. Unlike the non-M cars, our scales and numbers are always visible. They also don't change color depending on day or night.

As WDI said its a hybrid black panel. The biggest difference is that the characters are not as bright when lit up. The second difference is that they are visible when the car is switched off. It's the brightness I don't like. They don't look bright white.

HUD in M mode cant be programmed on startup can it? It has to be activated throught i-drive or the M1 M2 buttons?

I'm not aware of a way to have it enabled on start. It could be possible through coding but I haven't taken the time to look into it in greater detail. I can explore this weekend.

I just use my M2 button to toggle it, and have a radio shortcut set to put iDrive in split screen with arrow display on the right. (I thought it used to do this automatically, but doesn't.) I don't like having to take my eyes off the road.

I have looked at our collective coding though to see if I can change features on the panel. Most FXX functions work but have no noticeable effect. Trying to enable navigation display on the cluster fails. It's running different software. Same reason why non-M F10 owners can't get the M HUD display despite coding bits being available.
