To me the RS6 Avant looks like a civil servants car. i could imagine someone like the local postmaster driving one of these. Station Wagons are not cool.
Trust me, look at a tastefully modded one in person and it looks stunning. And I'll admit, the whole wagon sleeper part of it adds to the appeal.

Honestly, I don't get all the flack towards wagon. They aren't the wagons people grew up with in the 80's.

I agree I love the whole wagon look. I would drive one I heart beat if they brought state side.

Especially the olderV10 twin turbo RS6.
Tuned and modded that car is crazy fast. Sounds pretty good as well from the videos I've seen.

Not sure why they're calling the M5 half a second slower to 60 than the RS6 -- most people and mags are testing it at 3.6 - 3.7.
Right? Every other review has slammed the steering, lol!

I feel that the Euro magazines look at the car for what it is vs. the American magazines that set their own criteria and base cars off of it. Let's face it, the F10 M5 is not like the E60 M5 nor does it try to be and I think the Europeans understand this concept unlike the Americans who keep complaining about weight, and how different it is from previous M5's so the result is it's not that great of a car.

Watch when the next generation M5 comes, if and when it becomes AWD, American's are going to slam the M5 for leaving their roots and not staying RWD despite the fact that both Audi and Mercedes have AWD and not recognizing the landscape has changed and xDrive would be necessary just because how powerful the M5 will become.

I just don't like the look. To me a sedan or a coupe looks much more sleek.

I saw both the RS6 Avant and the RS7 on my recent trip to Germany.

I like the RS7 in terms of appearance but wouldn't be caught dead in an RS6.

Not sure why steering is even an issue in the F10 M5. I remember reading from most initial reviews praising the F10 M5's steering as the best steering M5 ever. Personally, a bit more feedback would be nice, but it's a good steering nonetheless.

Agree. The issue is the American motoring press are like a bunch of coke addicts. They want extreme exaggerated feedback because they are numb from their coke use and can't receive normal stimuli anymore.

The European press doesn't have this problem.

George Surprise

What a surprise!?! George K is usually very Audicentric.

Good review, but I still think the current V8 range is a missed opportunity. The traction, wieight...

BMW should have gone with a 4.0 litre V8 delivering 560 hp instead of 4.4 litre. Why go for the 4.4 litre if the same output numbers can be achieved from a 4.0?

I don't like Audis although I own one. Audis have no soul compared to BMWs, at least here in EU this is the general opinion. Same goes for RS vs M. You do not buy an Audi as a car enthusiast you buy it more because it's a sensible purchase. It's like comparing FIAT to Alfa Romeo in some respect if you know what I mean. Or Porsche to Ferrari. The first epitomises sensibleness and the other one heart. Let alone all the BMW's technical prowess that is objectively greater.

IMO, the review is clearly biased. The S6 (no R) is being compared favorably to the M5. There's no way an RS6 would not.

The review where the S6 is compared favorably is the one with the bias. This is the one you're referring to I presume:

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

This review is utter nonsense as far as I am concerned. The cars are in two completely different classes. As far as I'm concerned, C&D stopped being a reliable source of automotive journalism several years back, around the time Csaba Csere left - or maybe even Brock Yates a couple years before that; which is why I stopped renewing my subscription.
