M5 build duration

Thanks all.

As a UK customer it is not possible to do ED anymore, it stopped a few years ago. I'm just after seeing the production line, and it seems silly not to try and tie it in with seeing my car if it's possible... I have a contact at Munich but unfortunately he doesn't have any at Dingolfing. So we'll see. Bad thing is I'm guessing no photos whatsoever allowed.

Mat,

were you offered Mineral White as an option on your M5?? I was in the dealer on Monday and they swore blind I could only have the colours on the configurator, which does not include MW.... how much extra was this option for you?

Yes it's called Brilliant White Metallic. It's on the special options list A4 sheet.

that is not the same as Min White is it? I have the Min White M3 and never seen it on a 5 series. please tell me with is so or im gonna kick off in the dealer this arvo!

Prohaps not quite the joke it was intended BUT the amount of accidents around the Air Base at Mildenhall in the UK involving US DRivers is very high indeed, so much so all US drivers are speed restricted by there own military in the area.

Doesn't surprise me. I have a UK license and learned to drive in England. But last year on a business trip to the UK one morning at 6am I caught myself driving on the wrong side of the road. When the road appears empty and you are tired, entrenched habits return.

My car went into 5055 "confirmed by production control" status today with production week 06-02-2014 - does anyone know what that means? Week 6 of 2014?

Expected week is 09-02-2014
Pref PM is 09/2013

No.....that's when they look at the order for the first time to arrange production planning. Guessing delivery around May/June.

This is so unfortunate. Chevy has this program for the Corvette. You can pay for pictures (someone basically takes a whole bunch of pictures of people who build your car when they are building it, it's called the Corvette album or something). You can also pay 5 grand to meet the person who actually hand builds your engine and watch him do it in person. Obviously the second option is not possible with BMW as none of these engines are hand built anymore, but BMW at a minimum could hire a few interns to hold a DSLR and take pictures. They could make so much money off of this and for a lot more money, they could give you a factory tour and let you watch your car being built.
