My wheel is HRE S101. The rash is similar to the OP's. Not too bad. They grind and then polished it. No need to re-coat.

You can barely see some lines below the word "sport". I asked them not to grind to deep and I do not mind a little bit of imperfection.

Mine's MCB as well, I'll keep an eye out for you. If you're interested there's a local C&C group that meets every two weeks at a few different locations in the area. There's a few M5 guys from M5Board.com who attend.

It's a bit of a drive, but Flemington is great. I've got a good relationship with my CA and the Sales Manager. The service department has been very good so far as well. Actually, my car is there now, I dropped it off this evening. I've got the front wheel bearing clicking thats been discussed on the board. They're replacing the bearings Monday.

I've heard good things about JMK as well. A friend of mine is the sales manager at Intercar Mercedes in Newton and knows some of the management at JMK.

Sounds awesome. I went to C&C in Freehold area and I was the only F10M5 there.

Did they grind only the scratched part or the whole lip circumference of the rim?

Only the scratched area - about an inch wide.

rim repair

1. Refinish the wheel, but the wheel shop I talked to said he has to take the wheel off meanwhile my car will remain jacked up overnite outside his shop. I didn't like that idea.
2. I've been thinking about powder coating my 601M wheels satin or gloss black and get a more aggressive look. This will take 4-5 days and my car will remain up on a lift.
3. Leave it alone. I've already almost gotten over it. Probably will get more in future. Maybe go for aftermarket wheels later!

I'm leaning towards option 2. What do you experts think? Thanks for your input!

I was in the same boat as you.
I got the car, checked if everything was without any blemishes ,
FIRST ride that I took, and I chipped the front right , little bit more than you.
I was pissssed beyond. Wanted to buy a new rim just because of that.
Now I have 3500 kms on my car and I sort of got used to that .
I personally will leave my " scar " as a proof how dumb I am . and will eventually replace the rim but for now I will leave it as is.
why replace, simple , I hate imperfection and there is no way I'm going to get this refinished to my satisfaction, so I will bite the bullet and spend the dough for a new rim. That is my 5 cents.
Cheers

I paid about 160 bucks in Vancouver, BC to have a front left wheel refinished to perfection with a baked on finish. (1/2 circumference of wheel)

I would honestly just leave it alone. This stuff just happens, and it'll likely happen again.
