Can't help but wonder if it looks and sounds like something else I've seen and heard before. LOL!

Dave is this really much different than stock? Other than much higher quality the sound is still lacking from a DB standpoint and 2nd on your aftermarket comparison list. What’s the point other than to say look how pretty my new tips are!

It actually really does have a different tone than stock. It's got that tone that you can only get from titanium metal, and it makes it very unique. I think it does sound good for what it is though but honestly I think the biggest benefit you get out of it, is exclusivity and bragging rights, and both of those come with the $8,000 price tag.

Final RPiM5 say is that it has a better sound than stock, but I still think the cracks from the stock exhaust are louder than the Akrapovic cracks.

What would be really really interesting to me though, is if Akrapovic designed another exhaust system with the same Titanium metal, but with no mufflers and/or no resonators. That WOULD sound very interesting as that titanium tone could really be brought out of its shell. Bu they'll never do this, because the exhausts they make have to comply with EU decibel noise level standards. Oh well. I guy can dream though.

Thanks Dave... I just cant see spending that kind of money for very little sound diffrence and bragging rights. Would rather spend less on a full Eisenmann Race setup and let the sound do the braggin for me. Still torn though between that and the full Meistershaft Stainless GTC.

It has not yet been officially announced or released.

We were given a pre-production preview of the exhaust.

People willing to buy a sports exhaust is a very small percentage of the M5 owners. Those owners are also willing to accept more interior noise etc.

3: Instead of seeing all of this aftermarket business in the hands of outside companies, BMW wants to have a slice of that cake (after all they are a private company that first and foremost needs to make money to exist). It's not like BMW makes the M cars out of altruism...

4: No one HAS to buy the exhaust system. Why not just applaud BMW for making the effort to supply a ///M exhaust. After all if it's ok for other suppliers to charge money for upgrades, why isn't it ok when BMW steps into the same market?

BTW. The AC Schnitzer exhausts are made by REMUS...
+1 (Man, I gotta stop reading your posts-lol!).

Boysen makes the OEM on BMW. Not intended for "loud" noises. Made for a tuned sound, and like you said, a diverse crowd. Weight increases caused by luxury adds clearly exemplify BMWs aim towards a certain target audience.
