Insurance on the Ring?

Does the ED insurance cover the ring since its a "public road"? Has anyone asked the Welt this question?

Best advice is not to wreck the car while you're in the Ring
I am sure Allianz (insurance providing coverage for ED cars) would at least a really close
look at any accident reported (including retrieving data logged by the car)
I just looked over the paper work and there's no clear statement so the default assumption should
be "not covered" . Even if the Ring is classified as a public unrestricted toll road common sense should
be applied and don't go beyond your comfort zone. The Ring can be very deceiving.

Yes, be careful. Technically its a public toll road, so Allianz may cover, but no guarantees. Its been cold and slick there lately too.

When I went, I bought four laps:
Lap 1: 10:38 - with my wife (I stuck to the right unless I could see the line of me, M5's acceleration and all the nannies on really helped)
Lap 2: 9:37- did this with a track coach (former AF guy who lives there now, so he can drive the course)
Lap 3: 10:00 - did this with my Father in Law -- slower than my last because of a busier track
Lap 4: did not attempt

The reason I did not attempt was because a Clio wrecked a 300' in front of me in my third lap. I thought I might of ran over a bit of his fender. After seeing that (probably purely his driving error), I readjusted my viewpoint and determined 3 good lap on the tourist day was enough for me -- I didnt want someone else to ruin my vacation, or have me slip up on the track.
