A nice story...

Share a story... small world here.

For the past 2-3 years I have seen a frozen black F10 M5 in my neighborhood. Car is 100% stock ZCP model and always curious who the M drivers are around where I live. Anyways, I never tried to flag this car down or give the usual 'thumbs up' as the driver is an older gentleman and I am extremely cautious in my neighborhood anyways to remain as 'invisible' as possible (minus the occasional 3rd gear burnout just for kicks...)

The other day I was fiddling with my car in the driveway (wrapping up the Pure IC install). Hood is up and I am elbow-deep in re-attaching the coolant lines. Suddenly I hear a voice and a 'hello'. My first reaction (in my head) was 'uggh.. please don't bother me now as I am about to make more power' and that was my focus.

Anyways, I looked up and this older gentleman (with a cane, might I add) starts chatting me up. He was surprised to see someone with the hood open in the neighborhood especially an 'M' car. I immediately knew who it was and started chatting. He took one look under my hood and was like 'whoa... mine doesn't look like that!'. So we had a good time talking about what we have done with the platform, the power its making etc.

Well, this gentleman is no other than Bill Wood. The founder/owner of Wilwood brakes. They are more popular with the domestic crowd so maybe not a big name in the import scene. http://www.wilwood.com/Index.aspx Lives like 5 houses down...

Ended up having a very nice chat and got an invite to see his facility which is in Camarillo (maybe a 20 min drive for me).

Bill still races - he has 3 Miata's among other cars. Wilwood sponsors the local AutoX at the Camarillo Airport which I have participated in as well.

Nice to see someone with so many years under the belt (age and experience) still fascinated by cars... wish I will be the same in 20-30 years!

I took the m5 out to load up some supplied from a supplier, an bloke in his 60"s came up and sakd you cant use that beautiful car for that! We got chatting and he has an m3 e92

I'm in a similar situation myself, but I haven't spoken to the gentlemen yet. There's an older gentlemen in his 60's or 70's that lives 3 houses down from me in my neighborhood and he's got a 2015 LCI Singapore Gray F10 M5 with Comp Package and Carbon Brakes also bone stock. When I finally brought my M5 home after being in the shop so long, I was able to park it in my garage and some people in my neighborhood have started to take notice. Some of the local neighborhood kids even have started calling my car the Big Blueberry cause it's so blue, lol! My neighbor with the other M5 has seen my car a few times already but hasn't approached me yet or said anything to me. Now u got me wondering if he's actually Nikki Lauda or someone famous. Haha!

Nobody usually comes to check out my car as it looks stock for the most part. Just another boring M5....

Now when the hood is open or it’s thundering down the road... whole different story!
