Is anyone having their Valentine one K band constantly going on?
I let my brother borrow my Valentine one for a while and retrieved it when I got my M5. Now it has a weak signal of K band going off when I'm using it. Is it possible there is some sort of signal being broadcasted by the car???? Or do I have to interrogate my brother?

Ha ha ha. It is the blind spot detection system. Even if turned "off," it still emits a signal.
See : http://www.valentine1.com/Lab/techreport3.asp Disable K and X bands, and you're all set. In CA, the CHP and almost all local cops have switched to Ka (and laser), so you'll all avoid a buch of false positives. If you live in an area where cops still use those bands, you are kind of screwed. Funny thing is that your car will also make OTHER people's detectors go off. |

You won't have this problem with the Bel Stir+ since it is programmed to filter known vehicular radars (usually they deviate from law enforcement Segment of K band).

Hahaha..Damn!!! Good thing I asked. 90% of the time cops are using Ka band, but occasionally you will get K band. I trust and love my Valentine 1, now I just gotta figure out how to disable those bands.

Thanks for this. It behaves at times. Others it doesn't. I was about to pull my hair out.
My Escort RedLine didn't do this. I wonder if it is also immune.

Is that advisable? Admittedly I'm not as up-to-scratch on radar detector technology as I am with other aspects of vehicle electronics.
Having it in Logic Pro mode seems to help a bit but whenever the car is near a wall or other obstacle it goes nuts - and always from the rear.

That doesn't really answer my question. I actually am a fan of the driver aids in this car, in particular the blind spot monitoring.

At a minimum it is reducing the detectors k band sensitivity because the DSP interprets the K band from the bumper as background noise. The only detector I know that manages this quite well is Bels StiR+ where the DSP is programmed with5 MHz slices of K band which are typically automotive and not law enforcement. Law Enforcement is 24.120 ghz. So if say your bumper is operating at 24.150, then it is programmed to filter 24.1475-24.1525ghz. This enables you to retain sensitivity while not getting noise.

I agree and in fact pulled the fuse on my '10 Audi S4 with this feature. That way I didn't have to defeat any of the options on my V1 which imho is far more important.

Yes, have noticed mine being very noisy lately. I'm going to buy an Escort; don't want to, but I can't stand how sensitive the V1s have gotten.

Hmmm..Can we pull the fuse on the M5 for the same outcome? I agree, I'd rather have my K band, I know how to change lanes and stay in them. Besides, How the F$#@ can I apex a turn with Lane departure on...Lol

FYI -- I wrote to Valentine about this issue, and received the following response:
Since the signal generated by blind spot detection systems imitates police POP radar, filtering without hurting performance is problematic. Currently, the only solution is to disable V1's POP detection, or activate the Traffic Monitor Filter. |

I get her back in a few days after Munich figures out why she bricked herself and I want to address this. I have a road trip coming up.

i have the same problem and i am
in the tri state area. The simplest solution is to lower the 2nd wheel volume, then when u get in the car and start driving the radar will go on and immediately point towards the back, then just hit the "mute/learn" button and even thou that radar will show, it wont beep anymore until u get in the car next time. I know sounds annoying but ull get used to just pressing the mute button but still keep the great radar. |

Update- Called Valentine1. They were eager to help and were aware of this issue corresponding to the M5. They walked me through a setting change to disable the pop. I will keep this thread updated to let everyone know if it worked.
