Does putting muffler after cat reduce engine power?
hi guys,
I have a m5 2014 CP, when i bought it, both mufflers are deleted, im looking for a budget solution since the car sound at 102db at 4k rpm, and really dont like to waking up my neightborhood in the morning and at nights, i put one dual muffler in the mid (where the m5 non-cp resonator location is), the muffler is magnaflow 3" dual-in and 3" dual-out (this lowers to 92db, which i like it), muffler size is 14" x 7", my question is putting this dual-muffler in the mid would reduce engine power instead of putting two mufflers (3") separately in the end(more expensive solution)? the pipe is 3" all the way |

I do not have that answers, I have always been told that the mufflers should always be after the X pipe as it would reduce the scavenging affect. I have done a resonated X pipe on my car which is Magnaflow and it helped a ton reducing the drone and cold start loudness. Still sounded great. This replaced both resonators and x pipe. The only issue I found after the fact is that this was a 2.5" and I do not believe they make a 3".
