I don't have any better idea, but I'd be careful of the AMG references. In the not too distant future the 2014 AMG models might be a different story...... Especially if they are still as easy to upgrade with an ECU tune.

Im not a big fan of the AMG and M references - there are a lot of stupid people out there just looking to vandalize cars, especially jealous aholes. I for one worry enough about my car, I dont need the extra headaches. I am doing a personal vanity plate, but it references the M5 only.

Hmm I thought the demographic of people to own these types of vehicles would be grown up enough to find the friendly banter in the plates. I guess you always take a risk with such plates.

Im not saying an AMG owner will key your car, but some stupid kid with nothing better to do will get jealous and swipe it with a key, seeing the plate probably wouldnt help. For me, its just not worth it.
Im also not looking for AMGs to challenge me on the road in traffic, that being said WIFEOKD is pretty funny.

I've had several vanity plates and haven't had an issue. For the M5 I have "PFFT AMG" coming. My car friends (several of whom drive AMG cars) get a kick out of it, partly because we make fun of some of the slightly less intelligent/sensible idiots who drive them and always want to street race.
I guess it just depends on where you are.

Some more ideas to inspire you:
RACECAR (not available) R4CEC4R R4C3C4R CFINLEY (Chuck Finley, only makes sense for Burn Notice fans) 13F10M5 M5BEAST BEASTLY B3M5W1 (mosts people will read this as "BMW M5 Won", most people will see the evenly spaced B-M-W, then the center two letters, M5, and then W1 = won. Don't ask me why.) SUPRSDN |

The AMG references are weak IMHO.

Lol, was waiting to see who got that one.
As for the AMG... Yeah, I mean we have the 4.4 TT, the AMG now with the 5.5 TT (bigger turbos + bigger displacement) are making more power more easily off a tune than the M5. So will definitely be some stout competition. I was taking the plate reference as more of a toots & giggles idea. As if I came across an AMG driver with a MSlow plate, I'd be like Ok buddy, lets do this. Friendly competition, all in fun. I'm sure most of us when shopping for a car sat in both the AMG and the M before the purchase. However, I can see the flip side of someone getting very agitated by the plate, and wanting to have a long conversation to convince me why AMG is better. These people wouldn't get the point that I'm not that serious. Last edited by ImpetuousRacer; 11-16-2012 at 10:32 AM.. |
