Opinions on high mileage 2013 M5

Would anyone recommend getting a 2013 M5 with around 90k miles they've been going for about $25k

The overwhelming answer to this question from most everyone on the forum is NO

But honestly man.. if it was taken care of and you request an independent PPI and thats what you can afford to get into one of these beasts.. then get it bro! Don't listen to everybody.. pull the trigger if it looks good!

BTW, my car is a 2013.. people say to stay away from this model year. I have had zero problems and I'm at about 65K on the clock. Don't listen to all the chatter.. just inspect it well. Good luck

Definitely a good deal. Like the post above, get the car checked out by bmw dealer or a trusted mechanic. Also ask for services records and any recent repairs. As long as the car has been well kept, you'll be fine.

I have one with about 75000miles on it and when i got it the car was in much better condition than many others with half the miles!

In fact ive had several “high” mileage cars and never had major issues

I wouldnt buy it without a full PPI or having BMW look at it. Mine spun a rod bearing at 64k but mine was tuned before i got it and my dumb ass didnt have it inspected before. Obviousely make sure there are no leaks, weird noises. I wouldnt buy one modded personally. If it was someone like myself that takes great care of their cars than by all means you may be fine. You just never know how it was treated before you. That is why i try to stay away from used sports cars with many owners. Warranty is clearly expired so unless you are planning for a aftermarket warranty be prepared for potential items to be repaired that are not cheap. Again you may drive another 100k trouble free miles or you may be just buying someone elses issues or upcoming maintenance. Get it inspected for $150 either way

If you are not familiar with how they drive, besides having it checked out like others recommended, I would drive a few f10 M5's so you get the feel of them and can tell if something is off with the higher mileage one you want to buy.

I would not recommend getting into a high priced, when new, German car with high milage without an extended warranty. If you find someone to sell you a warranty then the risk might be worth it. But ask yourself this, why is a roughly $100K+ car worth only $25K. Parts and service don't care about depreciation. Every time these cars sneeze its at least $500-1000. An oil change is some where around $250, $150 if you do it yourself...

If you have a PPI, I would go for it. Nearing the bottom of the dep. Just have money in the bank if anything goes wrong and a lot of it.

It's the exact same with any other car. If you blow your whole wad on the car and have nothing left to maintain it of course you are gonna get screwed.

Do you have the ability to do routing maintenance yourself? If so, go for it.

I just bought a '13 with 80k from a dealer. New coils, plugs, tires. The PO had $14k in records. To be safe I changed the oil, DCT, and Diff myself. I plan on doing pre-cat O2 sensors and budgeted all new injectors in in the first year.

reviving an old thread.
How do you check for rod bearing? I just did a PPI on a high mileage at a BMW dealer and they said there isnt a way for them to check

2013 M5 Purchase

Hello, I am in the market for an M5. I had a 2006 years ago it was good for the most part when I purchased used, but had multiple issues with the SMG. Now years later I am looking to purchase a 2013 M5, 80k miles. I am kinda skeptic it had 7 previous owners, and carfax has 27 service history but nothing jumps out about any issues like the DCT etc. Dealer is pushing its well kept sent a video etc. Any thoughts before I make a decision.VIN: WBSFV9C57DC773620
