who here really keeps the car long enough to give a shit?
on the first M5 i had to top up a couple of times, on the second, not at all. on the previous M3s (NA) usually. I've followed the manual on break-in which I personally feel has jack all to do with later oil consumption. Neil.

As I stated, both oil change interval and new engine break-in are controversial subjects and there are just too many threads on too many forums about both subjects. And never have I seen anyone switch sides, so to speak, regardless of the evidence presented. It's certainly not worth my time to try to convince anyone to alter their position. As M6 Coupe once said, people believe what they want to believe.
