BMS update

Just finally pulled the trigger on a BMS piggyback and wanted to get some feedback before installing.

1.Who has put on the most miles on their BMS ECU tune?
2.How does the system act after so many miles?
3.Has anyone had any problems with the BMS tune?

18k+ miles I put it on right after break in.

no problem after any amount that I've seen.

I had one problem when I turned up the boost on 93 octane.. I had one of the first units and first firmware files and I tried to run around 4lbs of boost which from what Terry told me was akin to running 6lbs of boost on the newer units like you would have. All that happened is at 166 I got a drivetrain light and car rebooted and ran fine [so even then it was still working fine ]

No, just change to map 0 just in case they have to mess with software and DME

on normal gas is it 2.25 or 3? Or does it depend on your ecu?

I think I was the 2nd or 3rd M5/6 to install the JB after M6Beast. I have at least 6k miles with no issues. I run 3.5 over stock but have tested 5.5 with race gas with no issues! I also ran the JB4 on my N54 for 3.5 years with 0 issues and the new owner is still having no problems!

Depends on the BMS firmware version . 3.0 is the base map for the new BMS firmware .

I dont get it, is it based on the firmware of BMS or the firmware of the car (car model year). In the installation manual they show 2 windows and they each have a different firmware version. My M5 is a 2012 (european) so I was just curious.

The firmware of the BMS is what matters , the car is irrelevant . In the new firmware 3psi =3 psi , while in the old firmware 2.2~ 3 .

Been using BMS Stage 1, then upgraded to Stage 2 on both of my car. Combined miles 30k.
I got so impressed with the product, I decided to became a reseller.
Also, had a great experience first hand last week with the M4 setup. I got a chance to drove the car before and after the JB4. It was night and day, butt dyno was 500+ whp, and it was proven by someone's dyno running the same setup.

thanks for the clarification. Since I just ordered it, I assume I will receive the new firmware.

To all that run the BMS Stage 1 on their S63tu M5:

a) What is your max daily drive setting for boost on 93 octane?

b) How much of a difference for the butt dyno does it make for example to go from 3.25 to 3.75 or from 3.5 to 4.5?

c) Everybody claims that the car needs to "adjust" to the tune and it takes a couple of days (I honestly don't understand given that it is a 1/0 type change). If I were to change for example from 3.5 at 93 octane to 4.5 at 100 octane, would it also take days to adjust? Obviously would be disappointing as that would make swift setting changes on the track impossible.

Thanks for any clarification.

No stage 2 for the S63tu yet. That's for N55 engines and others.

My apology, I was just answering the questions on generic basis. Not specific for S63tu M5/M6 setup.

Here's what I can say.
With only JB and charcoal filter delete, I did a best of 623 at the wheels at the original 2.2 boost over stock (old firmware) on a dynojet (In 4th gear).
A few months later I added K&N drop ins, catless DPs, Turner muffler delete, and JB on 3.5 (new firmware) made 647 at the wheels on the same dyno (5th gear).
Just adding 5 galons of MS109 to an empty tank, the power jumped 10whp with no changes just fuel.
I then bumped the boost to +4, did one run to 5400 to let the car adapt, then let her cool down. Thirty minutes later, we ran her again in 5th gear and she made 692 at 6k rpms which is the top speed limiter and 100 rpms to go. We left it at that. Ultimately, with more time to adapt, no top speed limiter, the car would have made low 700s at the wheels. Adding 2 more lbs of boost would have yielded even higher results, but I played it conservative...
