rear view camera question

During my ED trip I noticed the rear view camera didn't have any parking guide lines on the screen (i.e. those moving guide lines which tell you where the car will go given the current steering position).

On the 550i these lines are present both in rear view and top view modes.

Is this an EU coding issue? Will the lines be there when I get the car in the US?

In my '11 535i I didn't even know the grid lines existed until I depressed the iDrive knob one day while the camera was on to enable them. Have you tried that?

No I didnt. I thought pressing the knob just toggled between rear view and top view.

Hmmmm...I may be mistaken. When the camera is on, there is a list of options over to the left on my 535i. I think I was confused there. It's in that list of options when the rear camera is activated, that I can choose what's visible such as guildelines etc. Haven't even driven my damn M5 yet so can't comment on that.

Here ya go. Just had to run out for some takeout. These options on the left side of the screen are what I'm speaing of. Does the M5 backup cam not have those? One of them is specifically for grid lines. I believe it's the one at very bottom.

The F10 M5 backup cam does have those. I used them throughout my whole ED trip. You just have to set it in iDrive. I don't remember where though. So don't worry Stealth, they are there.

Thanks nytrus. This is what I was looking for. I should have thought of that.
