Thanks for this. I am going to borrow some ideas from this to inject into my itinerary.

You certainly are gonna stay at the nicest place on the lake You might look into Asolo IT for the 22nd; there are some nice places to stay and eat in this tiny hilltop village... but not as nice as Villa de Este

Euro trip again

Stealth pilot I look forward to meeting u! I will be the lucky guy doing back flips and cranking up the b&o sound system with my hottie GF looking at me like I am some psycho 16yr old getting his first car. Actually just love bimmers, this will be my 4th M, and I think my 10th bimmer, going back to the 325es days.
Hope to do the museum tour Thursday, still have to set things up with sales guy. Because come delivery day I plan on doing some serious motoring.
Btw thanks to all on this site! Gathered a lot of pertinent info on F10 as well as after market options, uber cool. Peace

I just booked my tickets. Fly into Munich on 10/26. ED delivery on 10/27. Then drop off in Zurich on 11/5. In between those days, I'm trying to figure out a good itinerary. Based on the forums, it seems I should drive through Northern Italy/Alps via Stelvio pass. My concern is if I'll need to rent snow tires. I've searched the forums and received mixed answers.

Anyone else doing that route?

Very nice! Staying at Kipinski (sp.?) on the final night? That is where the wife and I are.

Looks like we will have to definitely meet up again and share experiences!

I'm back and forth to UK with work on each end of the trip before coming back to the US, so my hop-in and hop-outs of Munich are much shorter. The wife is coming and going the long haul though.

It's the Kempinski Hotel at the airport. It's a pretty nice place and very convenient.
Yeah I'm coming into Munich via UK as well (customer visits before taking delivery).
Will be fun to compare notes after a week driving the cars

Thanks for posting your map route. Looks fantastic! Can you please let me know how the roads are when you hit the Alps and passes? I won't have winter tires so just want to be sure I can make it since I'll be there a few weeks after you.

No problem. I have individual maps for each segment and can pass them on if interested
(also hotels etc) .
Happy to give you an update after our trip , however at the end of October things can become tricky as snow is not uncommon and many passes will close at least for days if not the season (like Grossglockner you should call ahead just to make sure http://www.grossglockner.at/en/service/) . I'd suggest to always have a Plan B via some other route/tunnel (such as Brenner etc) if you want to cross the alps .

i took the road from http://www.ontheroad-spain.com from the route pure Spain.

it may not have that bigger mountains but has no traffic and also haves greats sitghts and landscape.

you can see the area here, for the exact intinerary ask ontheroad-spain
