NA BMW Ms will be considered classics/collectibles in the next several years.

I honestly believe that the e60 M5 and e92 M3 will be considered collectibles/classics and will eventually appreciate in value in the future.

I'm beginning to miss NA high-revving engines with hydraulic steering assist versus force-induction and electronic steering assist.

I think I read on the current m4 forum that the new m3/m4 is an instant classic!

Had the same thoughts when I had my M3 but I was sad to learn that it was all in my head when I turned it in.

They're already classics just as the F10 M5 will be in a few years. The only thing with certainty is each next generation will be better than its predecessor.

I think BMW is skipping a generation for a insta-classic. E30 > E46 > F80/F82, same goes for the 5's, and the 7's. But that's just my opinion.

My theory is the E46 M3 will be a way bigger classic than the E30, as crazy as the prices are right now for those... try finding a super low millage E46 that won't make your eyeballs pop from the price tag.

I'm holding the same theory for the 5's. The E60 won't be as valuable as the E39 & F10 in the future (aka low millage, pristine condition). For now, most don't realize the impact the F10 has/will have, till a little later... I'm very much doubting the G30 will be a big (positive) hit.

I still want to buy an E39 M5 at some point.

I think you all might be on to something regarding the classics skipping generations. The E34 and E60 M5s dont get near the attention of the other M5 Generations.

Coincidental perhaps?

The E39 is my favorite M5 generation. The e46 is my favorite as well. I'd take an e46 CSL and e92 GTS over any ferrari or lambo - understated and focused.

E39 M5's are holding their value and some are increasing. I just picked one up to compliment the F10. This is my 4th e39 and except the first one I always bought the rest of them as a second car. I love the way the car feels and the NA v8. Looks-wise it's the best looking M5 IMHO.
