Does anybody else think it odd that only one person is posting that they've gotten their oil pump replaced?

The service manager at my dealership is emailing me everyday and he told me today that he has been advised by BMW Service USA that there have been no new pumps delivered in the U.S. as of yet.

I was also on the phone with BMW NA today and they told me the same thing.

Not saying that Stonehands isn't for real, but I'm wondering if anybody else on this forum has been told that their service department has the new pump in hand and that they are going to get their car back any time soon.]
My first thought was OMG!, they must have installed the wrong pump! Then I thought I was going to be cyberlynched. I am very glad to hear that others are getting their pumps. My dealer informed they were going by either VIN or production numbers(that is not verified by my CA). My car was an early July build. That may have had somthing to do with it. Hang in there. I went out and promptly thrashed it (within limits as it hasn't been broken in yet) for being gone for so long.

Heard from the service dept: the pumps have been in stock for a while, what has been missing is the....bolts (which are single use)! Allegedly that is what has been causing the delay.

Thanks - very similar to - sans the ED. I like to think BMWNA is being conservative with me, but I'm not sure that is a great strategy. Anyways, congrats again.

Like many here, my servicing dealer knows nothing. Still says they can't even order the part and obviously hasn't heard from BMW that parts may be shipped automatically.

Having said that, I'm not sure I want to be the first one they do...

In stock where? At the dealership?

I feel that information would have already been conveyed if it was the case.

And as far as the 'bolt' issue goes; are the old bolts from the shit pump no good?

Thumbs down

Well, I'm in Charlotte NC and my F10 is sitting on a lot here, deposit paid, playing the waiting game. Spoke to one of the managers at the local dealership today who also seemed very clueless. Much of what I'm reading here seems encouraging so I guess I'll keep on checking here nightly. Cheers guys and happy waiting to us all

My car was an early July build.
Correction; it was a late July build. The car was delivered to my dealer stateside on 01 Sep 12 which is the same day I picked it up. If there is a sequence related to production and/or delivery this may help others gauge when their pumps are being delivered. Congratulations to those who have received their notifications and it appears the others will be notified soon. Good luck.

Fyi To Everyone

I had a July build M5 first week, that i took delivery on last weekend of August. I have not been notified of any pump coming my way, and i bought my car at the same dealer STONEHANDS got his M6 repaired at yesterday. There is no ryhme or reason to your build date. I'm so pissed off that others have there car fixed (glad to hear that your driving again) but that i haven't had the courtesy of even been giving an update by BMW. Talked to the dealer, they haven't heard anything on my car... Called BMW NA and they were like, no one has gotten there car fixed yet...COMPLETE LIE. I'm done with BMW after this experience, not even mad about the pump being recalled, the fact that they contact some and not others is bull shit, oh yeah, and the ventilated seat option is the biggest rip off of all time, check out Audi and Porsche when it comes to this. Sad / disappointed / and embarassed owner of a 2013 M5.

Good to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel for you, i have yet to be notified by anyone... and as far as that person's engine being screwed, oh well, it's covered under the warranty.

Glad your getting your car back. Still waiting on mine. Hopefully by Friday. I'm assuming your car is not broken in yet since we took delivery around the same time. Just wondering if they are going to use any special break in oil on our cars. SA at my dealership is pretty clueless.

Rumored that first pumps are going to customers on a dealer "hot list" that has been compiled by region . Don't know how you get on it.
