that's the bad news.

today, Great news

I followed what you said @Soooma programed my settings to traction off rather than manually setting it up. and I was successful on 2 of 2 tries. It was fun and not to much wheel spin and felt a lot more control of the car over my M3's lunch control.

Only advice I need, when let go of the shifter and floor it from 3000rpm it red lines pretty quickly do I SHIFT it immediately to 2nd gear or let it keep red lining and it will drop down the rpm again? because when I red lined it on first gear I would change gear to second and I Felt as I did not get an good lunch on both attempts. But the wheel spin was fun.

thanks ahead of time
Thank you for your kind words, it is great news indeed And I would shift before it is deep in Redline as you lose power that high up in RPM yet I believe it is more fun though - But for numbers I believe shifting just about Yellow turning red or even earlier will be your best bet and you won't get that feeling of not getting the best of your LC! Again my 2 cents and I don't want to be the only one to answer this especially that in this forum we have a lot more experienced drivers than me - I would like to know what people like RPiM5 have to say about best time to shift and correct me if I am wrong -, meanwhile enjoy your newly rediscovered "Easy M5 LC" which at one point in time sounded like an Oxymoron type of statement - But hopefully not anymore after this thread.

Be careful with too many LCs; your clutch is getting roasted. ;-)

Aborting most of them -
It's just silly stubborn me trying to prove how easily they are done.

The first part of your post is the same exact experience I have had every time I try it. I get everything set, the checkered flag shows up. I rev to 3000 RPM's and it almost sounds like a puttering sound, I let go of the shifter and the RPM's drop back down and the car doesn't want to move. I tried it yesterday again after reading how easy it was to perform. My car after the launch failed, didn't move and was stuck in the middle of the road. I had to put it into neutral and back into drive for it to go again. There are no issues with the car and never had any problems... WTF

I tried it again and it shifts automatically
BTW it putters around RPM 3000 only if you are gentle with the gas pedal or hesitant,, it seems the only way of doing it is mashing the gas pedal after you see the checkered flag and then let go of that shift knob and be prepared for snapping your neck - today it had little spin and the traction was amazing and the pull was scary!

Thanks, Sooma - you're 100% correct. It's easier to activate than I thought. Did it at every stop light driving home today - aborting each time. Now I need to do it when the roads are empty so I don't need to abort!

Glad that you have the same feeling of how easy the M5 Launch Control and how intuitive it really is!! Despite what mags and reviews had to say in their reviews !! M5 is a driver's car rather than a reviewer's car as it seems to have an acquired taste to it if you will! ! You may hate its first test drive but after getting used to it be more in tune with M's wild character !!
Enjoy your M5 "Easy" launch controls - which may did sound like an Oxymoron at one point in time but I started this thread and it seems to be working well so far -

Wow... do you guys do LC at stop light?? do you know there is a chance of losing control every time you do LC based on the road condition? look at this:

and this is just M3 with much less power and torque compare to M5...
be careful and drive safe guys

I don't rememebr saying I ever said I did actually launch it at a stop light -! But said I was able to bring the LC checkered flag up so easily even at every stop light no issue but aborted them! I personally don't street race or even LC at stop lights, was just trying to prove how easy it is!! Because M5 LC had been notorious for being unnecessarily too complex and cumbersome and simply it is not !! It is a myth!! and regarding where to do it - it is a weekend right?

And sorry if I said something. I know it's your car and your life but I am just worried about you guys I did LC one time and almost lost control due to bad and hot asphalt. Fortunately it was a wide area so nothing happened.

I was just teasing you M6-Coupe,
Don't be so sensitive -, Appreciate your concern sir and you are right about your fears of the beast of which I am well aware of and one of the few reasons why I can't be a 100% happy M5 owner is these fears of loss of control because of too much power that chassis may not be able to harness !!

Thank you! And I respect you and like your sense of humor that is obvious in every single post I see from you... Be safe and enjoy your beast buddy
I always tell my friends that this car is a wild animal, but I enjoy riding her

Gonna guess turning the wheel was his undoing. I'm pretty sure anything other than a straight line launch will likely end in disaster. He did have more wheel spin than I would expect though.

I could do without the heavy breathing too.

That was a controlled burnout. But yeah a lot of the disasters you see on youtube are from punching it or braking when the front wheels are not straight and the car plows into the curb or a group of people.
