I doubt that BMW Canada will try to stretch it with our dollar this strong. Porsche Canada has been offering deep discounts to narrow the gap between US pricing and ours. If you're right it will make the decision that much easier.

I will guess (starting price) $99,900 for US; $114,900 for Canada
As typical, US will have to add this & that wheras the Cdn version will have mostly included in the price |

Yeah but inflation isn't going up as much as car prices...
in 2006 a fully loaded M3 cost around $55,000 now its over $70K, thats more than 25% in 5 years? inflation might be up 10% max in that same period. There is a reason BMW is posting record profit numbers! |

So if this car is going to cost $110K pretty loaded, that means it will cost more than a Porsche 911 Carerra 4S loaded, hmmm... I know they are totally different cars, but I will take the Porsche and say screw being practical, they both have 4 seats!

A well equipped Panamera 4S will run you $115K down there. The Pana likely won't be as fast as the M5, but will handle at least as well, if not better and the interior is best in class. |

I'd say base model will be mid-low 90s.
if i buy one, i will be buying it used, like i did w/ my e60 M5. 2008 loaded M5 w/ a MSRP of $98K. Bought it for $55K w/ 26K miles on it. Cars depreciate, its a fact. Hold value? - please. There will always be something better in the out-years. I don't see the sense in buying new (other than full warranty and security of vehicle history) when there are plenty of good deals to be had buying used so long as you do your research.

I sincerely doubt a Panamera 4S is going to "be as fast" as the new M5. Maybe a Panamera Turbo, but that starts at $135k...

My bad Cdn,
That's what I get for posting after working a 14hr day and coming home tired as heck! At any rate, I /really/ want to get the new M5 next year. As long as the lease payment is <1500/m, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it. June, for the unveil, can't come fast enough!

I too am anxiously awaiting the release....and pricing. We tend to get screwed on pricing North of the border. It's really down to this or the Pana for myself. |

For marketing reasons I'd be shocked if it didn't have a base in the $90's, but I can't fathom one can be had after options and what not under $100K.

It's gonna be at least 8-16% more expensive than the e60 imo, not because it costs that much more to make, but just cuz BMW is greedy, smart, and know us m5 homers will pay whatever for it (not to mention crazy dealer markup during the first 6 months or so etc)
Also, am I confused, or isn't the ttv8 cheaper to make than the v10 in the e60? |

I configured a new 550i xDrive yesterday the way I wanted it and it came out very close to 90k. and that wasnt factoring in the special color I want. I'd say another 20-25k on top of the 90k I spec'd out yesterday including the Atlantis Blue paint.
So roughly between 110-115k or so would be my guess (for my order). Maybe even a little more. I'll be trading in my e90 M3. |
