F10 M5 Borla S-Type Catback Exhaust Revs

I had the Akra M-Performance on my car when I bought it, but the sound was just too quiet/stock like, so I sold that and couldn't justify spending $4k+ on RPI/Meisterschaft/etc. Ended up finding a killer deal on a brand new Borla S-Type Catback.

Attached vid is of the Borla exhaust on my car. Not even broken in yet, has maybe 75-100 miles on it. Overall, I'd say sound wise the Akra was maybe a 3/10, and this is about a 5/10 (loudness scale, 10 being straightpipes, 1 being 1 being OEM exhaust). I think paired with the catless downpipes, this Borla will make for an extroardinary smooth yet aggressive sound. It sounds very exotic like throughout the RPM ranges, and absolutely ZERO drone at all times.

This is with stock downpipes, I will be installing catless downpipes this weekend and will take another video.

Enjoy!

Absolutely..the tips are 3.5" rolled/slanted, and look nice, but I will be cutting them off and replacing with single wall 4" slanted tips, as I really like how the quad 4" / 102mm tips look on M5s.

Attached are some photos of the Borla tips:

Do they stick out like everyone else's exhausts? That's the thing getting me right now is for some reason every exhaust looks like it sticks out an inch past the bumper.

No, if I pushed the exhaust all the way in, they would sit well inside the bumper, probably 3-4" inside of the bumper. I pulled the rear axleback portion outward some after tightening down the rest of the system, so it lines up with the rear bumper perfectly.

Thanks man! I really think it does, and am super excited to hear it with catless downpipes. It's got a very refined sound, it is very similar to Akra sound that my car had, except with just a bit more bass/deeper, and more noise (probably due to not having a resonator, only an x-pipe with rear mufflers).

I have an Akra and will do dp's soon and see how it sounds. Akra has great tone but on the tame side as exhausts go. Post up a video when you do the dp's. Good luck

You can pretty much adjust that on most systems. I agree there are some that stick out fairly far. I did about an inch past my diffuser as I loved the aggressive look. Took some time to adjust but defiantly went well with the diffuser. With stock, I would have probably tucked it in more.

This is a 4" tip. Loved it. Filled in the rear nicely.

Ended up gutting the OEM downpipes, here are some revs with the OEM catless downpipes and the Borla:

Sounds really nice! Mind spending some time this wknd to post up a few drive by videos? Also, where did you get the exhaust from? Looks like it's selling for $3400 online vs. $3600 for E-race, so I'm assuming you got a great deal from a specific seller?

E-sport doesn't stick out too much.
It's just right.

Sounds nice!
I am surprised by how many don't like the Akrapovic system. On the 2 wheel side of things they are usually well loved! Have a full system on my BMW G450X and love it!
