ED GPS maps

Could somebody who just did ED that GPS map for Europe is activated so that I may not have to bring an external GPS unit with Europe maps. Thanks.

You don't have to worry about it. They'll give you a memory stick at The Welt with the European maps.

Do you know if a USB hub will let you use both the European maps and an iPod at the same time?

No, one USB port so you have to choose between music and NAV. You could always use the bluetooth link to play music from your phone while the NAV memory stick is plugged in.

So you are saying they do NOT load the actual NAV system with the european maps ?
That's different to last year where the NAV system was pre-loaded with euro maps and got
updated for US spec at the VPC
I was hoping to use BMW Routes to upload my pre-configured trips into the euro NAV (we don't get this feature in the US )

You may be able to request that, I don't know. But for me the car was pre-loaded with the US maps and the European maps were on the memory stick.

Per the info regarding ED, the European maps are loaded when taking delivery of the car in Munich and upon arrival of the car in the U.S. it is reloaded with the U.S. maps. This would have been the better approach to the situation rather than handing out a USB memory stick with the Euro maps in it.

Not "better" from BMW's perspective. Takes a lot of labor, labor, hassle, and oppty for error out of the system. I brought along a snap-in kit for iPhone, so had full music and maps at all times.

Irony is they still pre-load the european maps for F30s which also have the new NAV system. So it can't be the system why they're not pre-loading the maps.
Still puzzled why the M5s (so far) singled out

Just deleted my EU maps an have a nice 29GB thumb drive.....

Interesting detail. When my car broke down, the tow truck driver could not understand all the error msgs I was getting and found that you cannot get language to German! ( even with the EU maps).Only English, French and Spanish. Ironic that we cannot get German on our US nav cars. In Germany in a german car :-)

Does Sirius work well in Europe in the M?
