Better written and better insight as an owner than most magazine reviews out there. Both your reviews.

Thanks for the great afternoon read. Makes me that much more excited to order mine once US pricing announced.

Great, insightful review. Somehow I never noticed the M5's steering wheel despite the, probably hundreds by now, of photos I have ogled since its release. That is a detail BMW usually gets right (not so sure about the F30 yet, but the M sport seems to address it). It looks like the M5's steering wheel is essentially the regular 5's hub with a thicker rim - usually BMW goes above and beyond with M's (as they should).

Interesting point regarding the "lag" of the turbo versus the "lag" in revs building. I am finding the same minor annoyance in my new(ish) 6MT N52 compared to the A/T N54 I was coming from. I recently drove a friend's 6MT N54 and, while of course the power is very nice, I was most surprised by how much more effortless and relaxed it is to drive because of that immediate torque.

(Full disclosure: this is the first 6MT I've owned)

In any case congrats on a great new addition to the stable....one day (hopefully)....

Thank You for a very interesting review. I really miss my M3 ( sold 2 weeks ago ), but hope the M5 will cure this?

Great review, thanks.
SG is one of the most boring places to unleash an M car though....no offense.

It's maintenance free for me so far. The only thing I do is take the car for manual wash at the gas station, that's it! See this thread. Nobody says it better than the master himself:

Clar, appreciate an owner giving such an informative review and feedback. Thank you.

A couple of things...

Re the scratched aluminium trim around the gear stick I didn't know you could change this - has the dealer confirmed you can swap it for Piano Black? Excellent news if that is true.

Re the lag due to low boast in a high gear, in case you didnt know this try it out (applies to manual mode not auto/D mode) - in my E60 M5 to change from say 6th gear to 3rd you have to pull back on the left paddle 3 times. No so with the F10. Just pull the left paddle and HOLD, simultaneously kicking down. The DCT will select the lowest possible gear for your speed and your off like releasing a catapult.

Have fun and be safe.

Just curious, is it true that it costs about $1million USD to have a drivers license in Singapore? A friend of mine told me this and im a bit skeptical. Also how much does a individual M5 cost in Singapore? I know that cars in Asia are ridiculous for their import tax but I heard that Singapore is the highest out of any country in the world. True?
Heresy, Heresy, Heresy!! It in no way costs $1mil USD to get a driving license in Singapore. Prob around $992.86K USD...Just kidding. It's indeed a pretty grueling experience trying to get a license here. You have to pass a challenging circuit test followed by on-road test against real life heavy traffic if you pick the wrong time slot. Tests used to be conducted exclusively in MT until recent years whereby u can opt to do it in auto cars. With the latter, u are only allowed to drive automatics. Passing the test is considered by some as one of the finest moments in their life right up there with the first lay.

My M5 costs a little under USD$400k. Yeah I know it sucks camel's balls, but can't really complain cos it's a small island here and if cars cost like they do in the states, all the cars will just be parked with no space to drive around. It's one of the priciest in the world, if not the worst.

Just curious, did that same person also say that we are part of China?

I got a call from my sales guy yest telling me that piano black might not be available for that piece. They are still checking for me. Will update once I get any confirmation.

Yes, I am aware of the lowest possible gear downshift method I tried it a few times before. It's certainly useful on a highway when required, but it's brutal!

Don't quite understand the need to bring Polar Bears into this. They need a home more than you need a 2nd car.

Thanks guys! I hope u all have as much fun reading it as I did writing it. Cars are my only passion these days as I have precious little time for anything else. My 2.5 year old rascal is all over me when I get home from work and I don't go off this 2nd shift until he sleeps at around 10pm. Rascal v2.0 recently arrived, so my hands are pretty full! I hardly ever hangout with frens these days so this is among my very few leisure activities
