They are indeed two different cars. I thought they would be similar but I was very wrong.

Stock for Stock I feel the BMW is the ultimate driving machine due to Power, Handling, Technology, and Luxuries. The DCT is also amazing and shifts so quick and smooth. The ZL1 is a very fun car to drive compared to the M5 and handled so much better in straight line and corners. I am sure it's due to the lower center of gravity, electric steering and magnetic ride made a big difference in this. When I did all the power adders to the ZL1 and brought it up to 750HP, the Camaro ZL1 is just a monster and comes alive and was my favorite car to own.

The other thing is upgrading the ZL1 or any other Muscle car was so much cheaper than the M5. I know it's a 100k car and you have to pay to play but 4-8k for a muffler is ridiculous. Same for the CAI at 3-4k and a tune for around the same price. It's crazy. I do however like the easy power that comes from a simple tune on the twins.

With the lower stance, magnetic ride suspension, and wider tires, it felt more planted to the ground and you did not feel like you were driving a boat. Cornering at the track in the ZL1 was amazing and it felt light and nimble. The M5 is a heavy car and you definitely feel it while driving/tracking. I am sure with upgraded sways, springs, and bushings it will feel much better.

Go with Dinan sway bars and KW V3 coilovers and you'll be quite pleased.

Rpi should park his M5 in front of those 2 cars, block them in, and picture the event.
