SSP Clutch Failure, brand new.... SSP non-responsive

My SSP clutches failed after just a few miles. The purchase was 7 days after 1year and the car sat in the shop for a year waiting for my new Carbahn engine.

They are now refusing to replace it. Total crap.

Wanted to share.

Install was done by a really reputable shop. Kris I tried to talk to via email and got immediately combative, aggressive and defensive. I am going to call him and hope they can turn that around. Let's not go negative on SSP yet. While so far my experience has been very negative on them not honoring the warranty... if I can get him on the phone hopefully he can be reasonable. I am a really reasonable customer.

Best,S

Nah, man, don't be sorry! When someone sucks you let them and everyone know so it saves other people and even better possibly it gets the person to stop sucking.
I personally hate someone that can't answer the phone or call back as if they're too busy or too good to bother. major pet peeve because it's like two seconds to dial and one minute to talk. not mentally or physically demanding. done.

I would think the same, i have a 2014 M6 with SSP- Spec R - just the plates not the baskets. And have had no issues see mod list in sig. I had Autocoture install mine, took it for a 500mile drive then redid adaptation and now about 5-6k miles later no issues at all. Some people I've read some have put the plates in the wrong order or the c-clip incorrectly.

Kris did only guarantee a 1 year warranty if it the plates by a certified shop. He's had issues where they were not correctly installed and that's resulted in premature failure.

Thanks for the responses. But this was one of his certified shops and I asked him if he thought they were installed incorrectly. He said "stop putting words in my mouth, not my fault your car sat for a year not driving with a blown engine, you're lucky I even give warranties"

I've messaged him every was possible after he promised a phone call. He won't return mine or my shops calls.

The car had about 25miles over the breakin on it. The shop has had a few failures now on these clutches just on the F10/F12 platform like this.

Seems like from time to time there is an issue.

I simply want to talk to him and if he really thinks that being 5 days past a 1 year warranty where the car was never driven at all is reasonable to be aggressive and combative with the client and not even discuss the issue is ok. If he's going to draw a hard line that 1 year and 5 days is it then I guess I am out all that money.

I run a business and would make that concession to take care of the customer every single time. Especially given my circumstances.

The weird thing is he first acted like he wanted to help (According to my shop, which he also has praised all over this forum before) then he got the pictures and said there's no stamp on the clutches which mean they are 18 months old, because thats when we started stamping.

My shop produced the receipt that showed it was purchased 1 year and 5 days ago at that time. Granted they didnt go into my car for another week or two, nor did I pay my shop for them for a bit. Then my engine let go 100 miles later after the clutch break in and the car sat for a year.

Then he just got very aggressive for no reason.

I asked him if we could please reset the conversation and I can understand where he's coming from but he won't respond to text, email, phone calls, DM's, messages on facebook, this forum or anywhere else.

Since I have a few threads on this I want to button them all up so there's no negative information out there on him/SSP.

Kris stood up and took care of the clutch for free. From my opinion after talking to him the SSP clutch is not at fault at all but he took care of it even after warranty.

There's a longer explanation on my other threads but Kris @ SSP has my respect and then some.

Stand up guy and a quality product. Will be doing business again.

Glad to hear things worked out well for you. Kris doesn't know it yet but he has just earned my business when it's time for clutches.
