Clutch for 800-820whp....

Couple notes.. Had an SSP clutch. Failed after under 1000 miles. It was 5 days past 1 year. The car had been sitting at the shop w/ a failed engine thus I was only driven for 2 weeks total in that one year.

As of now I am still trying to work with SSP but they've just said no and refused to talk to me via phone. Won't talk to my shop who is a authorized dealer and certified installer and extremely reputable and well known.

I see great things about Kris and bad things about his communication and business style.

I talked to Steve Dinan on the phone about this for a while and he said to use a stock clutch and limit the torque to about 730-750wheel and I would be fine.

Others have told me no it's going to slip.

This car has eaten me alive financially and I haven't even got to drive it in 18 months.

If the last thing really is buying another clutch should I go Dodson? SSP I hear good things about but, I had this failure and the terrible customer service so far makes me want to say hell no. (Really hoping Kris steps up and just has a chat w/ me this week about it... but not holding my breathe)?.

My shop is being awesome and not even charging me for the work.

Any thoughts on stock or other brands?

This is for my 2016 M6 Convertible...

I had one. Failed after 1500 miles. But Kris @ SSP is refusing to replace it because the warranty was 1 year. It failed at 1 year adn 5 days, of which 11.5 months the car had no engine and wasnt running. He refuses to communicate at all now. No email, no text, to calls, no DM's, no forum messages nada. Apparently others have run into this. Really hoping he comes around.

I'd buy again if he'd talk to me and give a good reason.

Was a certified shop that has a great reputation and he won't even speak to the shop who was a dealer of his too.

Thanks for the sharing your experience.

At least people know what to expect when they buy SSP now.

Customer service should be better when you're paying this amount of money.

If SSP doesn't own up to their product failure, I'd suggest cutting your losses and switching platforms into something that isn't so much of a financial burden.

Agreed. Thinking Dodson is the only other option for my power level.

I'd avoid Dodson due to complications other vendors have reported having when utilizing their clutches on this platform.

Depending on what you're tuned on, I'd also reconsider what Dinan said. Using the stock clutch with a tune that's designed to limit torque until higher up in the power band (Bootmod3 has an OTS option) is certainly a viable option.

Had a great call with Kris @ SSP today. Stand up guy. This really doesn't look like the clutch problem but potentially the tuner over heated the trans on the dyno. Just a guess.

However the slipping clutch lines up w/ the issue of the car not making power.

Kris while not at fault and past warranty is going to take care of the clutches for FREE.

Kris is a standup guy and the reputation on his product seems to speak for itself.

He has my respect and then some.

i didn't get SSP clutches myself, but one of my friend got his installed on a M6 GC about two years ago
he can't stop talking about them, good stuff. i was actually surprised about your comments earlier as he had to deal with directly to short out installing issues and didn't mention any problems.

i hoping to get them soon. (waiting for cash)

Just curious, what's the cost of the ssp clutches (ballpark) and what's the cost to install?
